G.Y.R.O — Restaurant in Freehold Township

Some of the best Greek food I've had in awhile! Before we even walked inside, people sitting outside were telling us how good the food was without us even asking, which was a great sign! Once inside, the staff greeted us very kindly and were eager to help us with answering our questions. The older guy (the owner maybe) was a bit snappy, but not in mean way as his jokes were inoffensive and funny. The food itself was delicious! The meats were tasty and moist, the fries were crispy, the pita was warm and freshly made, and the sauces brought everything together. I also think the combo platter where you can choose 3 meats with fries and pita is a great deal as they give a generous amount for a great price. Service, Service, service... 5 people in front of me and it took 20 minutes to just place my order. 2 people in front of me got a gyro wrap. It looked good and had A LOT of meat. I asked for the same thing and got so much less meat. The other customer did not ask for extra meat but still got a lot more. When I asked for more meat the old man gave me 1 more piece (thats all that was already cut) and said here. I am normally against places weighing portions but most places have some consistency in portions. The gyro meat could be cooked more too. The food is excellent here, but they can never get an online order right. Multiple times I’ve made the literal CREATE YOUR OWN pita, and they’ve simply disregarded my choices and instead made sandwiches from their general menu. For instance, I recently ordered a pita with lamb/beef, spicy feta, tzatziki and no veggies, but what I received was one with chicken, onions, lettuce, tomato, no tzatziki or feta, and some other random sauce I couldn’t recognize. If you’re going to order, go in person, and do not order online - the disappointment I had after driving 35 minutes both ways after having a full day of work was immeasurable when all I wanted...
