I recently tried King's Chinese Restaurant in Freehold, and overall, it was a good experience. We ordered take-out, and the restaurant was packed with people picking up their orders. Despite the crowds, the food was ready to go and lined up for take-out. We ordered several dishes, and I was impressed with the amount of food we got. The portions were generous, and it felt like we got a lot of value for our money. The Egg Foo Young was good, but could have used a bit more salt to enhance the flavor. The Five Flavored Shrimp was a little too spicy for our liking, even though we had requested it to be less spicy. The Egg Roll was a standout - it was big and juicy, and we could tell that it was made with care. The Hot and Sour Soup was delicious and spicy, just the way we like it. Lastly, the Singapore Chow Mei Fun was good. Overall, I would give King's Chinese Restaurant 4 1/2 stars out of 5. The only reason being that the Five Flavored Shrimp was much spicier than we had anticipated, even though we had requested less spicy. But, again, this is a personal preference. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for Chinese food in Freehold.

I haven’t found a Chinese sit down restaurant in the area since Szechuan Star closed years ago. We came on a Wednesday night and were surprised to see how many people were dining in. The owner, Freddy, is very chatty and told us on weekends, they have a line for tables. His service is amazing, he connects with all his patrons, and is super generous. He brought us hot and sour soup, additional dumplings, and gave us a taste of his chicken and eggplant dish. We ordered the standard Chinese take out items—general Tsos chicken, vegetable lo mein and string beans stir fried with garlic. Everything came out quickly. The general tsos chicken could have been more crispy, but I appreciated that they weren’t just half breading. The vegetable lo mein was good, but the string beans were covered with pork. The menu doesn’t state anything about pork, and I don’t eat red meat. I didn’t want to make it inconvenient, especially after Freddy had been so friendly and generous, so I just scraped off the pork. The hot and sour soup also had bits of pork in it, though it is normally vegetarian. Wonderful service and food, just wished the menu was more clear.

I have been to Kings about 3 to 4 times. I can’t get past the open noodle, mustard, duck sauce, glasses of water set on a table in the middle of the restaurant. That is also where the takeout orders are placed. Dirty take out boxes and people picking up their orders. I’m sorry but all these people coughing and sneezing. One woman was playing with her hair while she waited for her take out. Put that table away from the public. I’m shocked that the health inspector has allowed that table to be placed there. All of the time we went the service was always terrible. Our waitress spilled tea in my husband’s lap the people in front of us had dumplings dropped on them. We ate with our dirty appetizer plates while we ate our entrees. This time the food was not good and doubled in price. The chicken wings had no taste. The entire meal had a lot of salt. I always try a place more than once before I make my final decision whether I go back or not. I will NOT go back.

Please see detailed review on yelp. Horrific food… In fact, the ribs were so bad I hope the Freehold Health department visits because I ate at around 8:15 at night and the food I was served was dry, rancid tasting, grayish inside and clearly it was not handled properly or perhaps sat out all day (or for a long time perhaps without proper refrigeration) or was simply not fresh or was a very poor quality. Similarly, while the spring roll was huge in size, it similarly was clearly not at all fresh, the skin was stale tasting, and the inside also had a certain rancidity about it. Service was practically nonexistent with the entire family including our waitress eating dinner at the table behind us while we ate ours, and there was no one to refill our tea, or even to complain about the ribs to without interrupting their dinner! How absurd is that? Then, after he finished eating and I could politely approach him, Freddy, the owner, refused to remove the cost of the ribs off the bill, claiming it's because we ate some of it! (After arguing, he took just $3 off.) Yes, we tried them, but they were rancid, and I actually have serious stomach pains right now. Overpriced as well… With only one appetizer, one entrée and one combination entrée costing over $40. Btw, the reason ribs are called appetizers is they're supposed to be served first, which I specifically requested, yet it was served at the same time as all the entrées! I had been a patron for over a decade, but if they treat long time patrons like they did to my family tonight, why would you want to be an old or new customer? Probably explains why at 8:30-ish we were literally the only customers in the entire restaurant! This restaurant used to be 4 stars, but it has gone downhill over the past few years and I would sadly now give zero stars if I could! Note that more recent reviews on Yelp tend to reflect the downfall of this restaurant. A bit sad, as I used to really like. But sitting here with major stomach pains about six hours after eating, I guarantee you I will never...

1 STAR solely based on the service. an IG influencer raved about this place as “the best Chinese food in Monmouth County.” it is quite literally like any other take out place. the appetizers and entrees are no different than what you would find/order from your local Chinese food spot and not to mention, the wait staff had us seated for nearly 20 minutes without even so much as offering water to us. then, a waiter passed us, told us they would be with us, went to the kitchen, came back out, and proceeded to take orders from the other customers who had only walked in minutes ago while talking about their life, family, children, etc. with nearby tables. a waitress passed us, now going on past 20 minutes, and when I was about to ask for assistance, they put their finger in my face and told me “ya, wait a minute.” the dishes were brought out rather quickly, mainly because I assume they have dishes sitting out in the kitchen not freshly made already and the waitress did not even check on us at all throughout the duration of our meal … very unsettling experience, will not be back, especially because there are Chinese food spots closer to me that I do not have to drive out to Freehold for and be treated like my money does not...
