This is such a neat hole in the wall...it down a flight of stairs. The baked items looked really delicious. My mother had a bacon molasses cookie. She said that she couldn't taste the bacon. We had lunch at Isabelle's because the menu looked really great (and it was). My parents had a bowl apiece of Barley soup with a packet of Oyster crackers. They both said the soup was warm and hit the spot. I could see Barley being drudged up out of the tomato based broth. I had a gobbler sandwich. I selected it to be on sourdough bread. The stuffing was warm...paired with the cool lettuce...yum. The turkey was thicked carved (not deli) with little cranberry sauce. Served in a basket with wavy chips. The drink selection was not vast. I picked an organic apple juice...it was juice...I could taste the organic?. When I give the atmosphere a low score. It is really just a simple little place. It was kind of loud. The person behind the counter deserves a 6th star out of five. She took orders, was making food, and serve it table side. The best was her smile. The food and the service are really what makes this place...oh and the gingerbread whoopee pie. Worth a visit!

Update: Went back for breakfast. I had the Breakfast BLT. It was delicious with a nicely cooked egg. I was right about the baked goods. I had a maple walnut scone. It...

We had our first visit to Isabella's, today, after visiting L.L. Bean first thing on a Sunday morning (apparently they don't ever close). The atmosphere of Isabella's is pleasant and very coffee shop-like. Isabella's has a great selection of both cooked breakfasts as well as pastries that can be eaten either there or at home. I had the biscuits and gravy + two eggs and my wife had the french toast with potatoes. Both dishes were good, but a little lacking in their respective ways. For my dish, both the eggs and sausage gravy were great but the biscuits were very dense and were almost more like scones than biscuits. My wife's complaint about her dish was really the same in that everything was great but the bread was just very dense. It's not really clear as to whether or not you're supposed to bus your own table when you're done or if they do it. We finally did find a cart with multiple tubs for sorting dishes, trash, and recyclables. That was fine as we didn't mind. What was a bit troublesome was that honestly the restaurant seemed a little on the dirty side the bathroom was very dirty. Please don't misunderstand, we enjoyed our breakfasts but there were some things left to be desired...

Honestly, the only thing I come here for is the cinnamon rolls, so I can't speak to their other offerings. The coffee is good, but let's focus: cinnamon rolls. These are the closest to fresh homemade cinnamon rolls as I have found anywhere in the area. Most places make them really wide and flat, hoping that you'll be too overawed by the size to notice how dry they are. But these...oh, these are soft and moist and delicious, and actually recognizable as a yeast dough with that little bit of stretchy texture. sigh I also really appreciate the service here. Stephanie is super friendly, and offers to warm up your bakery choice before you can even ask. I don't go often because Freeport is a little out of my way, but when I do I always check to see if this...

This place was great, and honestly, if I were a local, I would become a regular. The place is simple. The staff is on top of things when you go to order. I got a breakfast BLT sandwich on sourdough. Best sandwich I've had in a while. It had a lot of flavor, and all the ingredients were fresh, and bacon was cooked to perfection. The hot coffee was fresh and is a self pour situation. Additionally, they have some pastry's behind the glass (rasberry chocolate scone was sooo good) that are packed with flavor. The staff checked in to make sure things were good.
