Oh this review is sincere all right. I told the owner as much when there was no issue between us. Google asked me to review the Bakeshop, after I visited the "restaurant". Why was I there? Because the owners of the shop had filed a court case against us, because ?who knows?, it seems the owner just wanted to vent in court about things she didn't like about my wife while she was employed. Anyway, I walked into the bakeshop to pick up the employee file for my wife. I walked up to the counter, and was clearly looking for assistance, and nobody even spoke to me, until I was spotted by the "manager" who actually knew me, and had some idea why I was there.
Anyway, when I have eaten here, I had the Caprese Sandwich. The owner asked me how it was and I told her point blank it was missing something, and didn't seem like a caprese. It was just bland. No finesse. None of the ingredients like the mozzarella or tomato were salted or peppered, there was no balsamic glaze, no olive oil. It was literally just bland chicken, mozzarella, tomato and basil. At least the focaccia that they source elsewhere (as a bakeshop? Why not just "bake" it yourself? Oh yeah... you don't know how, you're not a bakeshop at all) was decent.
I happen to know for a fact that although many of their ingredients are claimed to be Maine sourced, often what they mean by that is the owner forgot to do ordering, and one of their employees ran to Hannaford for ingredients.
I also know that when they had their initial health inspection, the health inspector told them the sanitizing solution they were using was not up to standard. And these people were using this as their primary cleaning solution while providing catering services through their other company, 111 Maine, which has absolutely atrocious food, as I have ALWAYS said. Pasta just DROWNED in olive oil because they don't understand a better way to prevent them sticking together. I genuinely have no idea why these people think they belong in food service.
Oh... and EXHAUSTING ALL PROFESSIONAL OUTLETS? Don't make me laugh. After the aforementioned court case, the owner stumbled on this google review - which initially was just a WELL DESERVED one star rating, with no accompanying review. You'll never guess what happened next: we found ourselves in court AGAIN. And this absolutely crazy owner had the absolute nerve to file harassment charges in response to a well deserved one star Google review, and explain to the judge that this is what she had filed claims for. We wasted like an hour of the judge's time just so this crazy lady could, yet again, complain about a bunch of drivel; and then the judge could read the law about harassment to her so she could (hopefully) understand that nothing anyone has done to her constitutes or even approaches harassment. Of course we all know she won't understand because she's an absolute moron. Her and her husband both. So, inevitably I'm going to end up in a court room again, because I updated my Google review to respond to her. Oh well. See ya in...
Read moreTried this place for lunch yesterday for the first time with my spouse. The food was good but honestly, I expected a little more from this shop! We were really excited to try the Taragon Chicken Salad sandwich and it was fine. It didn’t have as much flavor as I would have liked and the bread was dry like it wasn’t quite as fresh. We also ordered two chocolate chip cookies, which were heavenly. They had a nice balance of sweet and salty (a personal preference). My spouse ordered a coffee and you can add in caramel, vanilla, or one other flavor that they do charge you for (.90) and you add yourself at a self serve station. The chips, sweet Maui onion, are possibly my new favorite! They paired well with our sandwich as well but are a separate charge. ($3 or $4)
We got a sandwich, bag of chips, a coffee, and two cookies for almost $40 (with tip, not bad but we also shared everything except the cookies. Another $15-$20 is not worth it to me here.) The sandwich itself is more so a half sandwich rather than a full and is $12 by itself. The chips were $3 or $4, cookies are $4/piece, and the coffee was $7 or $8. The staff was fine, not super friendly but not rude. There is also indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is quite small but the outdoor space is lovely and views the street. There are also little umbrellas at the tables. Overall, this place was fine but I probably wouldn’t go back again except for...
Read more2 employees. One slowly waiting on each customer. Baked goods looked delicious. Didn’t try anything because after patiently waiting for them the girl took a customer who had just walked in right then. Went to Isabella’s! Great coffee and delicious baked goods
In response to the response. I was on my phone texting letting my friend who was waiting know how slow the girl was. Glad she at least noticed me by the chips being she never acknowledged me. I was standing there because that’s the only way to see what you have on the menu and in the case Couldn’t have been too busy in my phone. I saw the other employee get a bagel. I saw the gentleman before me ask for an espresso that you were not making now and watched her tell him you have regular coffee. I saw the lady and her kids come up to pay. As well as the lady who just walked in go to the register and...
