Food was your typical New England style Chinese and the pupu platter was your average Chinese food to expect. My major issue with this place was the dude working at the front desk. I was visiting for the weekend and placed a takeout order. When we got there the door was propped open, people could be seen eating inside, and so we walked in and began paying for our meal with the woman at the cash register.
Just as we’re wrapping up payment, a young man comes out of the kitchen and yells at us “you can’t be in here!” I asked what he meant as the woman was taking our money and we didn’t see any signage that indicated it was curbside only/nor were we told when picking it up. Immediately he again raises his voice saying that it was clearly stated on the door which was propped open and the sign saying curbside pick up was the only option was on the door side that you wouldn’t have seen since it was propped open.
There’s 100 ways this dude could’ve handled this but instead chose to yell at us and I wish I hadn’t just paid or I would’ve walked out leaving the food there. He could have simply said “oh just so you know next time it’s curbside only, have a good...
Read moreWhen I saw all the highly rated reviews, I was excited to try Li's Place. I called to place an order and my husband went to pick up the food.
I wasn't overly impressed with some of the menu items. Their beef and chicken teriyaki was pretty good. The chicken fingers were fine, but I didn't care for their duck sauce. It wasn't the typical sweet-tang flavor. Also, the eggrolls were good and the veggie fried rice was mediocre.
One thing that was a different experience for me was the wonton soup. This restaurant was the first place that I've ever come across that used a beef-looking broth versus the chicken-looking broth. When I opened the container, it honestly smelled like garbage. I was a little turned off by it, but I've reheated brussel sprouts before and they smelled pretty bad too 😉 I still tried the soup and it wasn't all that bad.
All in all, it wasn't a horrible experience and I'd be willing to try other things on their menu, especially since my family loved the beef and chicken teriyaki; however, I'd probably pass on the duck sauce and wonton soup the next...
Read moreThe ordered selection, small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup, Cashew Chicken, were freshly made with appropriate heat factor and delicious. Nice amount of chicken. Solid steamed white rice serving (1 cup?) accompanied on the side. Ice water served without requesting. Cost $18.?? and was unexpectedly $$ for lunch, but apparently there is only one serving size for Lunch ?only open for Lunch? ..do not know I did not ask - I was the only customer eating in & the young man dealing with the customers was quite cool and brusque, poor eye contact and skinny on the verbal interaction with this customer, but more chatty with male customer (take out order.) This is a tiny 6 table restaurant in a private home, scrupiosly clean, that provides no visual or auditory distraction from enjoying the meal. Will probably return simply because of the fresh preparation factor now that I know what to expect for...
