A friend suggested this Healthy tiffin service and we decided to give it a try by ordering once. We loved the food so much. It was fresh, tasty and healthy with the correct balance of protein, vegetables, and carbs. Not too oily or too spicy, which i didnāt expect to find after trying so many restaurants, online order services like Shef etc. We started with a one-day order containing below items Mung Daal w/ Jeera Tadka Kadhai Mushroom Masala Millet Roti Kala Chana Pineapple Chat (paid extra $5)
While everything was good, the Kala Chana Pineapple Chat was amazing. That one item and that everything else was healthy and tasty convinced us to go all in the next week: we ordered a full 5-day plan and spent an additional $60 on extras to try as much as we could.
Weāve now ordered 9 times, exploring 35 different items! We didnāt find any item too oily or unhealthy so that itself is a plus. We're mostly vegetarian, so take the ratings below as personal preferences rather than universal judgments.
PROTEIN Loved: Spinach Paneer Kebab (amazing!), Rajasthani Daal Panchmel
Okay: Mung Daal, Gujarati Kadhi, Pahadi Chicken Curry, Punjabi Chicken Tariwala, Gharke Nutri Ki Sabzi
Didnāt like: Mango Fish Curry (just not for us), Kolhapuri Paneer Curry (dry and not very flavorful)
VEGGIES Loved: Bharwaan Karela, Gharke Matar Aloo
Okay: Kadhai Mushroom, Baingan Aloo, Mix Veg Bhuna Handi
Didnāt like: Bhindi Ki Sabzi (too bland), Besan Shimla Mirch (lacked flavor)
SIDES Loved: Millet Roti, Ragi Roti (both exceeded expectations!)
Okay: Marathi Vangi Bhaat, UP! Tahri Paneer Pulao, Wheat Roti, Punjabi Nutri Ka Pulao
Didnāt like: Quinoa Pulao (just not to our taste)
PROBIOTICS & DRINKS (Amazing items in my opinion) Loved: Kala Chana Pineapple Chat (standout!), Beetroot & Carrot Tadka Salad, Broccoli Soup, Gajarechi Koshimbir, Mushroom Soup, Marathi Koshimbir, Beetroot Pachidi
Okay: Mix Greens Salad, Lemon Couscous Chickpea Salad, Amla Beet Cucumber Detox
Didnāt like: None so Far Final Thoughts So we enjoyed around 80+% of things we had with occasional items in the unliked category. So try a variety of things to find what you like. Suggestion to Healthy Tiffin While I love trying so many varieties of things, there are few things I would like to order again but havenāt found on the menu again. So maybe find your best dishes and make them available more frequently even if in extras.
And Please donāt compromise on quality as you expand. Bottom line: If youāre looking for Healthy & Tasty homemade meals, it is worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuch a gem of a business! I used to hate eating out Indian food and be sad when I donāt get to cook. But this service changed it all. The food is 10/10 if you are looking for home style food - from all states. I have always been health conscious due to diabetic family members, been eating low sodium low oil diet since childhood due to family cooking. I still use low salt and oil in our cooking and this place hits all those markers. You get used to low salt and sugar very soon and actually taste the flavors of other ingredients. Love their container choices and portions. Reliable and punctual delivery. You know the food was delivered fresh when you forget something in the back of the fridge and find it during weekend cleaning, open it and it is not stale at all :) Especially dal based foods very easily go bad within a day from other restaurants.
The quinoa pulao is soft and fluffy, tiny bit of chew. Easily can be used as a base for the protein and veggies. Their menus cover a wide variety of Indian food from all states. In our household we are used to foods from at least 4 states. I was delighted when they added some foods I havenāt eaten in years and almost forgotten - Karnataka and Tamil Nadu foods, sides that are very simple like kosambari, Paladya/majjige Huli/marathi palak kadhi, beetroot raita etc stole my heart.
We do regularly order raita and love their container choices large portion. They are a great source of probiotics, protein and add plenty of creaminess on the side when eating spicy curries. The cooking inconsistencies mentioned are very minor and I donāt expect them to be accurate like machines or seasoned chefs. Folks not used to low salt cooking might need to add some extra. Some folks might need to add a dollop of butter to cater to their taste buds.
I some times switch it up when they have other delicacies like watermelon gazpacho and soups. Nevertheless, it has given me flexibility to cook and try other cuisines for other meals.
If anything my only recommendation is to go a little light on the Elaichi and Cinnamon in paneer currys. They make all currys...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was very excited to try out HealthyTiffin. From the website and reviews, it seemed very authentic and simple, something that I had been looking for in subscription meals but I am disappointed with the food. I ordered Saatvik Gobhi sabzi, Paalak paneer, Vrindavan khichidi, Quinoa side and cucumber raita. Here is my review for these items: Gobhi - It was not saatvik at all. It had lot of garlic and there was some bitter taste to it. Paalak Paneer - It was very bland, as in there was no tadka or anything. It felt like it was just boiled palaak paste and paneer. The kick was missing. I understand not everyone would like ghee tadka but may be you can give an option for that (Small portion of ghee is good for health). I had to make my own tadka for that. Quinoa - This was the blandest thing I ever had. It was sauteed in cumin a bit but there was no taste. I won't be able to consume it. Could have added some veggies and made it more in pulao style. No oil does not mean flavourless. Cucumber raita - This was ok but again the kick was missing. Raita does not require tadka but just some basic cumin powder, salt, pink salt. But I did not get that flavourful taste. Vrindavan Khichidi - This was the best amongst the lot that I ordered. It was flavourful, simple and something that I can eat when I don't want to cook anything or dealing with upset stomach. Overall, in the attempt to use less oil and make everything simple, the dishes turned out to be plain. It could be a one time thing and I might try out some other dishes sometime later but right now, this is not going to...
