Moon Dance Café — Restaurant in Fremont

Today we decided that since we would be visiting family in the area that we would try something new to eat before hand. I had heard about this place before but have never actually go in and tried anything on the menu. With the higher star count vs others in the area...and the fact that they were open until 8pm vs 2pm like some others it was the winner.

When we arrived I wasn't sure the place was even open. The parking lot looked empty and there was a sign on the door. Turns out that they were open and the sign on the door was their hours of operation. When we walked in the place was pretty empty. There were 2 tables that were occupied, but that to me isn't busy at all. We were told that we could sit where ever we wanted. So we chose a booth away from everyone else.

Our server came over right away and brought us a menu. She told us what the special was for today as well as they serve breakfast all day long. She took our drink order and left allowing us ample time to look over the menu. I struggled with if I wanted breakfast or lunch. As I looked over the options I came across the specialty coffee section. One stood out to me...the "chunky monkey". It was espresso, bananas, caramel, steamed milk, whip cream, and more caramel. Once the decision was made that I was going breakfast I decided to order this coffee drink as well.

Obviously my coffee came out first. I let it set for a minute to cool before diving into the banana goodness. All I could taste was the banana...but it was good. Weird, but good! Shortly after our food came out. I went with the Denver omelet while my dining partner went with the club Panini.

His sandwich looked good and he was kind enough to let me try the fries. The fries were amazing. They had a batter of some sorts but I cannot put my finger on exactly what it was. My omelet was fantastic as well. The sourdough bread was cut think which was nice as most places are like paper thin. The omelet was cooked correctly and stuffed full of goodness. What I liked especially is how the eggs were not overcooked. There were no burn or brown marks anywhere to be found. They didn't skimp out on filling either. Plenty of onion, cheese, ham, and peppers. I was also informed many times that his Panini was delicious.

Our waitress did a nice job keeping our table clean as well as our drinks filled. She was the only one working the 4 tables that were in at the time of our visit and she did well bouncing between them. For the price I paid for the meal it was well worth it. 2 people eating for about $20 is a steal in my book!

We hired Moon Dance to cater our WEDDING..... the server showed up late, were unorganized, brought food we didn't order, and didn't bring food we paid for. I asked the servers where our second meat choice was and their reply was "this was all she sent us with". Being that our bill was $1200 I stopped in the middle of our reception and called Tina Drum (the owner) and she played deaf dumb and blind.... "I thought the mac n cheese was your second meat choice" REALLY? I said "No we opted not to have 2 salads and replaced one with mac n cheese and ordered chicken for a second meat choice" she says "oh darn this has never happened before but I will surely make it right for you". I returned from my honeymoon asking for a return of $100 for the mix up and the return of the gratuity of $142.50 for the late arrival, unorganized staff and obvious lack of service. I received an email stating "as previously stated you got what you paid for......... I am not sure where the mix up was (I attached the invoice it was obviously her fault) .... I will refund $100 but I stand by the service of my girls and refuse to return the $142.50 gratuity." BEYOND disgusted! BEYOND HORRIBLE SERVICE! She made my event look cheap and unorganized! Terrible 1st impression to family on my husbands side I have never met. This was MY WEDDING DAY and we originally were going to have family do the food but thought hiring what we thought was a professional do it would be a stress free situation.... I WAS WRONG..... The food is always fantastic here. I will say, however, that it’s really hit or miss with friendliness when it comes to the servers. There’s times where my server is super pleasant, friendly, and kind but too many times now I’ve had really rude interactions from servers. Often times it’s when I’m ordering a to-go order on the phone…as a former server myself I understand that the restaurant may be busy when people call to order and it can be frustrating, but to treat a customer like a burden from the moment you answer the phone isn’t cool. I’m always more than willing to wait patiently on the other end while you finish doing what needs to be done in the restaurant before taking my order, but the short & snippy annoyed tone makes it difficult to want to continue ordering from here. I’ve given a lot of grace and not mentioned anything about it because I understand how stressful this type of work is, and I hate sounding like a Karen, (and let’s be honest, the rude customers deserve an attitude from staff in my opinion, when it’s deserved) It’s just reached a point where I felt it necessary to say something because I’ve tried to be nothing but patient and kind with staff but the rudeness is just so offputting.
