Ohana Hawaiian Barbecue — Restaurant in Fremont

Did a large Party tray order for my son’s graduation party. Did 3 orders of the “10 servings” of Chicken Katsu, Short Ribs and also macaroni salad. Total was a little less than $140. Didn’t seem too bad until I got my food. They serve the food in these large trays covered with foil. When you get your food, it looks like the tray is completely full of food. This is where they get you. The tray is 90% filled with shredded cabbage. I would have gotten more food if I would have ordered just ordered 5 of the individual meals of each protein. When you order short ribs for the individual meal, you’ll normally get about 3 pieces with rice and macaroni. When I ordered the party tray, it literally had 10 pieces of short ribs. How does that make sense? Don’t let the party trays think you’re getting more food. You’ll be paying for nothing but shredded cabbage. It’s really sad, because this place does have some good food. I love the food here but what I just saw was disgusting. I let the cashier know that there was build up on the soda fountain. Gross enough right. Told her they should be cleaning them nightly. She took a rag that smelled like bleach and stuck it up the fountain spout. Then wacked it into the garbage can to get the loose debris off of the rag. Mind you it's now touched the inside of the garbage can. She started to go and clean the others with the same rag. I stopped her and told her she can't do that, that it's a health violation. I arrived somewhat early for lunch, but was starving nevertheless. I had to try the Lau-Lau plate here. It's not offered at all Hawaiian Bbq restaurants. I was first in line and ordered quickly. The fountain soda was good. I sat and waited 10 minutes. During this time, 7 customers had lined up and ordered. I guess I beat the rush. I got the food for takeout. So, the Lau-Lau?
