Whether you agree with my reasoning or not, this is the "New Chinese Food." Framing my review in this manner is not meant to be disrespectful to either culture. instead, it should provide context as to how a native Californian perceives a category of food, that up until this restaurant, previously only included Chinese food.
California Chinese food has a certain stereotype for most people that grew up in the Bay Area. Big portions, white containers, and unfortunately, styrofoam boxes are part of an eating experience. Before there was pizza, there was Chinese food.
There's no need to remind me that American Chinese isn't real Chinese, or Mexican American isn't real Mexican, but that's kinda the point in this case. Finding the sweet spot between authenticity and convenience for consumption is an art form.
Honestly, Eastern nations typically don't do well when packing their entire flavor palette in a single dish, it's too much. Thus, everything is always served family style. It's a whole experience, and I would definitely consider Indian dinners in that category.
You can still show up to Nawab's and catch the cricket drama on the TV, eat in a more traditional setting, or just swing by to pick up a to-go order. I couldn't tell you how authentic the food is, not being Indian means I'll never really be able to claim expertise, so the experience is what I crave.

Are you looking for a way over proportioned, rice-based, flavor explosion without needing to put in much effort? Are you planning on watching Netflix, playing video games, or watching sports all day?
With daily specials paired with naan, it's really a complete meal (probably enough for 2) that fills all the be lazy and eat checkboxes that were typically reserved for...
Read moreUpdate 2024: To me, the food quality has been in decline or unstable for many months now. I used to love this place and used to refer people often. Recently I took the chicken tikka and was utterly surprised to see that i paid 14.99 for those dry pieces of chicken boti kabab(check photos)!!!
2023 review: I usually like the food here. But nowadays mostly vegetarian. I keep getting disappointed with their non veg food in the last few years. I have been visiting here for many years now. The non veg was excellent when i used to visit this place at least 5-6 years back. I used to love their kababs and their awadhi biryani. But off late their non veg has been consistently average or below average in taste. Recently we had kulcha with chana .. it was so good with extra butter running all over the place. My wife and I Iove the vegetarian malai kofta. It's juicy, greasy, tasty and yummy with naan or roti. Daal makhni was great. So was the paneer gravy in red(forgot the name). The chicken malai Tikka or the chooza e shahi used to be great years back. Nowadays it's always either dry or not tasty. The chicken do pyaza was not that great either. I have stopped ordering the awadhi biryani anymore. I used to love it initially. Slowly the taste deteriorated and didn't feel like trying it anymore. They also serve Yakhni pulao. But i am not recommending it. I have tried it too in the past. Its like a bunch of thick gravy on top of a bed of rice. That's not how yakhni pulav is supposed to look or taste like. But overall i like to come back to this restaurant, may be once in many months for a change of taste. I used to visit this one or take out food multiple times in a month, years back. Due to deterioration of their flavor i have reduced my...
