I really like the Michael's stores. It's a huge store with lots of craft supplies for a variety of crafts for children and adults. They have nice deals/sales too. Things I was disappointed in were: I went to Michael's to look at a sewing machine I was interested in, but even though they sell the machines, they keep the sewing machines in the back and nothing is on display. I was only able to take a "ticket" to checkout to have it rung up. I was super interested in the $50 discount, but being forced to buy sight unseen was not an acceptable option for me. If I wanted to do that I would have ordered it online instead of going into the store. I asked why they did not have them on display, and I was told it was because they kept being stolen. That is easily resolved by a variety of security measures, such as chaining a display model to the shelf with a cable like they do for computers and other electronics in other stores. How much would that cost them versus a lost sale? A few months ago, they carried a large pad of double-sided 12"×12" scrapbook paper, which I loved, but did not have the money for at that time. I went to the store the other day to go pick one out, and they no longer carried the double-sided pads - only single sides with a white back. Another potential sale lost. While I was looking at beads, I kept getting dripped on by a really gross looking pipe on the ceiling. God only knows what was in that pipe, and I was hesitant to ask. They had a wet floor sign to warn of the water on the floor, but this does nothing to warn customers of the dripping from above. I suggested the manager add a sign to warn customers of this. I needed to use the restroom while I was there, and I went into the Handicapped stall since im disabled and almost fell to the floor upon sitting on the toilet and the seat being extremely loose and moving to one side by a lot. This is a safety issue to be sure and worthy of a lawsuit if someone should actually fall or injure themselves in an attempt to prevent themselves from falling. In addition, there were no paper towels. I reported these things to an employee on the way to the checkout.
This store would have received 5-stars had it not been for these issues. I considered a 3-star rating, but settled on a 4-star rating since I was able to express my disappointments and report the maintenence issues relatively easy. Staff were definitely easy to locate and everyone was helpful, and this was the saving grace betwern a 3 or 4 star review. I would be willing to reconsider my current rating if I knew these issues were resolved. My next visit will...
Read moreHad a number of issues with framing. The location needs to make some changes to training and communication.
I came in to replace broken plastic in a frame: they charged me $200 for the less reflective of the two options, and lost the frame (they eventually found it, and were willing to replace it).
The price was on sale ($300 off). I would recommend reading other reviews to see where to go for a cheaper cut.
As for the losing of the frame, my recommendation is make sure to call ahead and find it when to drop off the painting with Bon, the framing manager, otherwise you’ll run into communication and training inconsistencies.
If you want to reach Bon, she is usually there until 5, and takes lunch at 1, so call in those time frames to see which days she has off.
This will ensure your frame itself doesn’t get lost, which happened to me, and it looks like some others , and will save you a lot of extra trips and phone calls to the shop.
My suggestion to this location is to train everyone on frame intake and to take a massage to Bon, since there isn’t enough coverage in framing to allow for breaks and evenings.
The girl who helped me did a good job, but there are communication issues: first, the plastic she made sure was set aside for my frame got used, and I had to wait for the re-order. Then, she wasn’t trained to intake the frame itself, which got lost. Finally, when I came in to pick it up and they tried to give it to me without the frame, that person didn’t communicate the issue to Bon or try to have anyone call me back, and it was another week before their phone system came back online and I was able to reach her to fix the issue.
I thought the location was like other Michael’s aid been to and I could just drop off without am appointment. No one from framing had coverage any of the times I could come, and other employees who stand ready to assist need to be fully trained for intake for repairs at the very least, and know how to pass on a message to Bon.
Giving them an extra star or two because everyone is lovely as Bon fixed the issue as soon as she discovered it. But that process can take weeks, and is high time to put a system in place to prevent issues in the...
Read moreI have had confusion from different cashiers of which I think a couple are new. I had been wondering why my rewards were not in the system. One girl said she didn't know but thought it would show at checkout. She didn't know but she could have called an employee who would know the answer that would have been how you handle customer service. I didn't push the issue because there were about 7 or 8 people waiting in line behind me. That wasn't the first time. I kept asking why I hadn't received the email. I eventually figured it out but since I didn't find it a few days earlier because it expired I felt was ridiculous. I spend hundreds of dollars at that store my rewards had reached $35. Now my issue here is, why can't they program the system to let the customer know they have however much in rewards and allow the customer to use their rewards. Who knew they expired and didn't I earn them with all the money I spend at that store. Also they never have enough Cashiers to help when the lines has 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 people in it? I have stopped in that store many times had been shopping for an hour or more but when I went to pay the line was very long and there was no one to help back up. So I left my $60 worth of merchandise and left. That is very bad customer service. I felt sorry for the young girl cashiering with all eyes on her. So I go over to...
