My coworker and I were looking for a Mediterranean spot and chose this one based on the reviews. It looked cute from the outside, and we were checking out the menu posted by the entrance before going in. Before we could even respond or step inside, who I believe was the owner came out, asked if it was for here or to go, and told us to sit outside as if the decision was already made for us. That rubbed me the wrong way. We didn’t even get a chance to answer. It felt like he wanted us outside, not in his restaurant. So I just said “to go” because, honestly, at that point, it didn’t feel welcoming.
There were two older women eating inside, so clearly, it wasn’t a full-house situation. My coworker and I looked at each other — confused. Later, he brought the food out and gave me the total. I handed him my debit card, and instead of just having me come in to enter my PIN, he ran it and then waved me inside to do it. Again felt rushed, transactional, and cold. He even asked if I worked nearby, which just made things feel even more awkward.
I really can’t shake the feeling that we weren’t welcome. And the only thing that stood out about us? We’re both Latinas. Oh and the pit bread was stale. So yeah,...
Read moreI found this place searching for something new to eat around here in Fresno! This place has pretty good reviews for their Gyros so I had to try it out. Walking in, it is very quiet and clean. Considering the reviews, I am hoping the lack of customers is due to me being here at dinner time on a Monday night. I ordered a lamb gyro (disappointingly it is not cut from a spicket), with extra tzaziki on the side. The lamb was cut into large chunks. The flavor was okay, but was missing something. Not to be a stickler, but I was the only person in the restaurant and I definitely heard a microwave opening and closing and a few seconds after that received my order.
The side salad I had was just sad. Lettuce with tomato and a watery vinaigrette. No olives, no fets, no onion, no cucumber. It was strange how there was no cucumber at all anywhere. The pilaf was buttery, pretty good and they put a lot on the plate. It just needed some more seasoning!
This was a nice place to try, kind people, but the food was not up to...
Read more10 bucks for a meal that amounts to a single, mediocre kabob and a plate full of rice?
When I picked up the to-go order I was exciting since it was damn heavy, naively thinking it was going to be a decent amount of kabob. I was sorely disappointed when I opened it. There was a single kabob (medium sized AT BEST), but there was a monolithic amount of rice pilaf and salad that was included with the meal. The un-spiced flatbread was uninspired and tasted bland. The salad had a really weird off flavor to it, like somebody had spilled some damn soap in it.
The kabob was a honest 5/10, the spices were pretty much non-existant, but at least the quality of meat was good.
I feel bad for posting a two-star review because Amir is actually a pretty nice guy. No complaints about the service. If their meals were just a little less expensive I'd give it a 3 star.
This was my second time going here. I don't be going a third. Go to...
