Manhattan Steakhouse & Bar — Restaurant in Fresno

I attended a dinner seminar on Solar this week. The service by the 2 female servers was not very accommodating. The servers did not appear to be happy and seemed overwhelmed. They looked frustrated and did not provide good customer service. The steak was red even though I requested it to be medium well. The amount of food on my dinner plate was not very large. We requested more bread and the servers took a long time to bring the refill of bread which was difficult to cut. The two servers appeared to be frustrated and not pleased when asked for anything. If they are not happy with their job, they should change careers!

I contacted the owner, Karen M., and explained these issues to her. She just apologized and made an excuse that her severs weren't allowed in the room during the presentation. However, there was ample time before and after the presentation to provide great service. The servers were talking very loudly during the presentation. In fact, the speaker had to tell the servers hidden behind the curtains not to talk so loudly as it was distracting to the guests. The owner, Karen, said that she would relay these complaints to her husband, Dave M.. She never offered any type of special accommodations or comp. dinner for all these problems.

I don't recommend this restaurant for any future seminars or dinner...

My Brother and I, along with two friends visiting from SOCAL, enjoyed an OUTSTANDING evening. We arrived early for our 6pm reservation and we were seated right away. The Host asked if we were celebrating anything. Well, of course we were celebrating our guests' arrival for the long Thanksgiving weekend...AND my 63rd Birthday (on Turkey Day). Our Server (Stephanie) arrived soon after we were seated, described the nightly Specials, and took our drink order. Stephanie was extremely personable and professional. Once our drink order arrived (in no time), Stephanie took our Appetizer Order; Escargot (AWESOME) and Thick Sliced Bacon (Absolutely Delicious). I had the Ribeye Filet with a House Salad, my Brother had the Filet Park Avenue with a Grilled Caesar Salad. Our guests had the New York Teriyaki (no Salad) and the Braised Beef Ravioli with a Chopped Salad. Each of our meals were prepared PERFECTLY! Stephanie dropped by on multiple occasions to check on us. She was/is phenomenal! Prior to delivering our check, she delivered a wonderful Cheesecake Sampler, with a lit candle, in honor of my pending Birthday. It was a perfect ending to a perfect evening. Off night for the Manhattan? Had dinner reservations at 6:30, but did not get seated until 7:15 and the meal didn't arrive until after 8:00. Ordered steak medium rare and it came out cooked uneven with medium on the top half and and well done on the other half. It obviously was not turned properly and overcooked on one side (should have taken a picture of it, but it didn't seem proper at the time.) Of course, I had the option to send it back and then watch the other person in my party eat her meal alone while I waited. Never a good situation--especially after waiting 1.5 hours from arrival until the meal--so I just tried to enjoy my overcooked $50 steak. Not trying to be harsh, but for a place with such a reputation and has "steakhouse' in the name, this was simply unacceptable. On the positive side, the Tuna Tartar was simply fantastic (the reason for 2 stars and not 1,) our server was pleasant & the corkage fee was waived due to the wait. Not sure we will return to the Manhattan based on this experience--if so it will be on a weekday night to see if this experience...
