Ichiban Ramen & Poki — Restaurant in Fresno

Ichiban Ramen & Poki in Fresno is a spot I've come to really enjoy. It's popular for a reason: great food and friendly service every time. The place is usually packed, but I got lucky during my last visit and was seated immediately. This time, I brought a friend along who's been on the hunt for a good ramen spot in town. As a die-hard anime fan, I've always been a fan of their anime-themed decor—it adds a fun and unique vibe to the dining experience. I went for the spicy miso chicken ramen and a Thai iced tea, while my friend decided on the tofu curry ramen.

Our food arrived at a perfect pace, allowing us to dive in without too much wait. The ramen was exceptional – fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. We had to let it cool a bit before we could fully indulge. My friend, especially, was impressed; she mentioned it was some of the best ramen she's had in Fresno. Food was good. They still had to prepare when they opened. She said the workers just got there. Which I think they should be prepared as soon as it opens. They were out of spicy beef ramen.... but I got something similar. It was good. 7/10. The only thing I didn't think looked professional was all the hand written signs EVERYWHERE. It looked tacky and they were just everywhere. Also the important signs got covered up with xmas decor which should be left uncovered if they want customers to see them. They should show up on time, and clean the walls up a bit. You can see broth splashes everywhere. But the art work is cool. Maybe invest in a whiteboard for daily specials. 🤔 you can see they get packed so they must be a well loved place. Service was okay. Didn't take long. Maybe 12-15 min. Cleanliness 7/10. Good vibes. Also, when I told her this was only my 2nd time here and I may need help understanding what some things are exactly, she didn't help at all. So I had to wing it. 😐 so my experience was 7/10. Not what it use to be. Food is bland service is slow and somewhat rude. Its mostly thai inspired masquerading as japanese. Thats not up for debate ive lived in japan and im mixed and raised by my japanese family. I wont say what happened but yall ate lucky im changed cause your spot wouldnt be here tomorrow if i hadnt changed my life around. Dont approach people the same way you did me because you dont know who u might ruffle and what someone is tied too. Im sure the ownership has changed at least twice cause the recipe is so far off. I know this place does things a certain way however when they complain and try and nickel and dime after something wasnt up to par then i have to nit pick and point out all the flaws of your food and your atmosphere and service. Smh bad business. Its the cost of business things happen not everyone will love your subpar ramen. Its ok. Nbcc 166th st. Wont be coming bacc so dont worry.
