My husband was told when he purchased my wedding band that it would be sized down to fit my very small finger. My engagement ring was purchased at this location almost a year before, so the store should have been aware of just how small the band needed to be. Nonetheless, the sales associate assured my husband it could be done. After agreeing to and signing a contract for the custom ring size and price, my husband left the store. When the ring was delivered, and deemed ready for pick up, my husband was told by the same associate, that in fact, the ring could not be sized down; instead 2 beads were soldered to the inside of the ring, making it the appropriate size. With the wedding in NY and nearly 2 weeks away, my husband reluctantly took the ring. When the wedding (and Hurricane Sandy) were over, we needed to figure out what could be done with the ring.
It is my opinion that that particular ring should never have been sold to my husband. Clearly it was near impossible for the ring to maintain its "structural integrity" when such a small size was required. For the integrity of the shop, jewelry, and reputation of Kay Jewelers as a whole, and without full knowledge of what the sizing limitations were, the sales associate should never have sold the ring.
In attempts to remedy the situation we contacted the shops manager, only to be given the run around, not once, not twice, but three times by one of the sales associates; all to no avail. We left numerous messages for the manager to contact us whenever it was most convenient. After a week, we still hadn't gotten in contact with her, nor was there evidence of her trying to contact us.
Obviously our sales associate was more concerned with making the sale, than delivering a quality and not to mention, contracted product. I still cannot believe the manager has not contacted us to rectify such a huge error. I am so very disappointed with the way this shop and it's associates have treated this situation. After spending so much time and $$$ at this shop, I feel we were entitled to discuss our issues with the manager. Almost a month after trying to have a conversation, we have still not heard from the store.
Very Unprofessional.
In the end, my wedding band, although beautiful and so meaningfully chosen by my husband; blessed by our priest at the ceremony, had to...
Read moreI would leave ZERO stars if possible! Purchased a new very expensive watch from their Las Vegas store with the understanding that if it did not suite me I could easily exchange it at any Kay Jewelers near my home. At the time of purchase the sales associate sized the watch and then re-packed it in its original box so i could pack it safely in my luggage for the trip home. It was a very technologically sophisticated watch so 10 days later, having never worn the watch I decided to exchange it for a more conventional style. The Kay jeweler near my home town refused to exchange. At first they tried to tell me I had bought the watch from an outlet, then when they read the original receipt they said they could not accept it because they do not carry that model at their location, then the manager told me they could not accept it because it had been sized (link removed). When I explained to the manager that it had been sized by a Kay employee, with the original link still in the box, the manager still refused and directed me to call customer service. I called - they do not understand the meaning of customer service- will not over turn or do anything to assist stating it is at the discretion of the store manager. After several calls i was told to call MARIE MENDEZ for assistance. After several voice mails she has not once tried to call me back. The reviews are correct ONCE KAY GETS YOUR MONEY THEY DONT CARE! SHOP ANYWHERE...
Read moreChild's gold bracelet ordered well before birthday party that would be presented as a gift. The lady ensured it would be ordered and I would be able to return and look at it prior to name engraving. After about a week, no call from Kay Jewelers. I called and went into the store again and she could not find it. It turns out they put it back on display to be sold!! Now 1 week before the birthday, she ensures it will be engraved and returned Friday, 1 day before the birthday party. Friday comes around and she says, I'm sorry we haven't received it and I'm not sure why there's a delay...Oh yea? I'll tell you. You didn't call me when the bracelet came in, you put my bracelet to be sold on pisplay to sell, now you can't get the engraving done in time. Today, day of the birthday, I called again to ask about it and the male worker at Kay Jewelers says, Well, Valentine's Day came and that was why we don't have it (similar wording)...no no no. I placed my order well before Valentine's Day....all this to say, go to Zales. Don't go to Kay's Jewelers. Currently still awaiting the gold bracelet today and going to the birthday party with another gift. In the meantime I will have to keep calling for the bracelet because obviously as in some of the other reviews, they don't call customers when items are shipped in. Kind workers do not make up for...
