I walked in hungry as heck in a Saturday night, I was out doing my thang you know hehe.. anyways I hoped on Google and was like what's open right now. I saw all these fast food stuff and I was like naw that stuff is trash makes my stomach hurt like a mothaa** anyways I saw this place but was confused by the two restaurants they had in one spot. If you noticed it or not this place has two names the first name and most popular is called "The Hyderabad Indian Grill Fridley" while the other name is "Dosa South Indian Grill" kind of silly I know. Turns out the "Dosa South Indian Grill" is more for breakfast and appetizers while the other one is more of dinner and lunch. Yeah I know what you're thinking not a very smart business move but hey respect the owners hustle. Back to the review, so basically I order a huge as meal cause I was starving, I ordered an appetizer called Chilly chicken - Boneless cubes of chicken marinated in corn our batter, deep fried & tossed with chilly sauce & spices , and Indian Bread Peshawari Naan - Sweet Naan stuffed with nuts and raisins and baked in a tandoor, as well to top it off with my main entree and dessert. I got Dessert Gulab Jamun (4 pieces) - Deep fried milk balls in sweet syrup, and I forgot what the main entree was called I'll be honest you show up here and you're not indian you won't know what anything in the menu is besides curry haha. I just saw a picture and was like that looks like a lot of food I'll get that (see pictures). Anyways order was fast they kept it coming but only cause the place was about to close, speed will definitely vary. As I was chowing down in my grub, I noticed a lot of dashers coming in and out. I was like dang alright people know the spot for them munchies haha. It wasn't until I was just about getting stuffed one carry out person came in...that's when it happened! A Karen came in late at night demanding her order be brought with immediate haste! Haha she was rambling and even went on a hunt to look for the attendant at the front desk. She was upset that she had to wait a few minutes for her order can you believe that a few minutes the world was ending or something! She was going back and forth abouf her drink not being filled to the top etc you name it she complained about it late at night I remind you! Anyways the attendant was keeping his cool doing his thing you know haha, eventually she got her meal and rode off to the dark night. Unfortunately I was not able to conquer my main entree completely..but besides it being good the only issue I had was that I'm almost 70% sure the chicken they gave me was cooked earlier in the day and they just tossed it into the microwave for about 3-5 minutes thinking I wouldn't notice while they covered it with the rice but besides that being pretty funny the food was ight if you're really craving Indian food come here you won't be disappointed definitely not next tier but a good restaurant for a quick date night. Out of topic but as I was about to pay saw this cute Indian girl come in and I'm pretty sure she was with her man but I was about to make that move y'all and have indian everyday!!! But yeah in conclusion I give this place a badass seal of approval! (See pictures for more details of...
Read moreThis was my first time trying this Indian restaurant at India Fest, and while I appreciate the effort put into serving attendees, I wanted to share my experience to help others—and hopefully provide feedback for improvement.
At India Fest: After waiting in a slow-moving line for about 40 minutes, I spent $180 on food ordering multiple items for the same stuff. The person taking orders handed me a $20 gift card, mentioning it could be used at any of their locations. The dosa was tasty, but it was served with all the chutneys and sambar placed directly on top, which affected its texture and flavor (since I didn’t care for one of the sauces). The Pav Bhaji wasn’t as flavorful as I’d hoped, though I understand festival settings can lead to rushed preparation. The veggie platter included rice, plain naan (which seemed store-bought and cold), and paneer sabji that lacked seasoning. The veg biryani was more like fried rice mixed with vegetables. While I didn’t fully enjoy the meal, I chalked some of it up to the challenges of serving at a busy event.
Attempting to Use the Gift Card: Later, I decided to give the restaurant another try by placing a pickup order for dosa and biryani. I called ahead, arrived after 30 minutes, and found no one at the front. After ringing the bell, a kitchen worker came out but didn’t greet me—just stared until I mentioned my pickup order. After some confusion, my food arrived, but not before being handed the wrong order first. When I presented the $20 gift card, the staff seemed unsure how to process it. After multiple back-and-forths (and nearly 15 minutes of waiting), they initially said they could only offer 20% off instead of the stated $20. Another employee reiterated this, questioning where I got the card. I clarified that it was given to me at India Fest and that the card clearly stated "$20," not "20%." Eventually, they honored the $20 discount, but the entire process took over 30 minutes and felt unnecessarily frustrating.
Final Thoughts: The employees remained calm throughout, but it was clear they weren’t properly trained on how to handle the gift cards. The food itself was better than at the festival, though the delays and confusion impacted the experience. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I wanted to share this to help others who may have received similar gift cards—and to kindly suggest that management provide clearer guidance to staff. With better organization and customer service training, this could be a great spot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. I hope it’s helpful for both future customers and the restaurant’s...
Read moreThis review focuses solely on the food since we opted for delivery, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth sharing! We've enjoyed takeout from this fantastic spot at least five times over the past two months, and each time it has truly exceeded our expectations.
On our most recent order, I decided to spice things up with the Chicken 65 biryani, and wow, what a choice! The chicken was nothing short of perfection,, tender, bursting with flavor, and the spices were just right. The dish came adorned with sliced onions and even featured a hard-boiled egg, adding a nice touch that elevated the entire meal. Not only was the taste incredible, but the portion size was impressively generous, making it an absolute steal when paired with the fluffy garlic naan. The naan was warm, slightly crispy on the edges, and just the right amount of garlicky goodness to complement the rich flavors of the biryani.
We also made sure to include the Paneer tikka masala in our order, and let me tell you, this dish is a superstar in its own right. It's become one of our go-to favorites on the menu. The buttery sauce envelops the paneer cubes perfectly, creating a harmony of flavors that’s simply irresistible. The seasoning is incredibly well-balanced, making each bite a delightful experience. It paired beautifully with a side of crispy samosas that were bursting with spicy potato filling, perfect for that satisfying crunch.
Overall, every dish we ordered hit the mark, and it's safe to say that this restaurant continues to impress us with its exceptional quality and flavors. We can't recommend it highly enough for anyone looking to indulge in delicious Indian cuisine from the comfort of their home! We will need to make it to the...
