We should’ve known to be wary when we pulled into a nearly empty parking lot at 11 AM on a Sunday. But that didn’t stop the service from being extremely slow, with our table’s orders not even coming out together.
The biscuits and gravy were lukewarm and so tough I needed a knife just to cut through them. The Huevos Mexicano was just overcooked scrambled eggs with barely sautéed veggies and no meat at all. The side of scrambled eggs was more of the same, and the “hash browns” were just two frozen McDonald’s style patties, not homemade or from scratch.
The drip coffee was also lukewarm, and it took forever for them to refill the pot. Overall, the food was below average and way overpriced. Sadly, I would’ve had a better meal at a Denny’s or Waffle House.
The place itself is nice and cozy inside, and the people working were friendly. That was the only positive part of this meal.
Reply to owners excuse and attempt to insult our taste in food:
Let’s be honest, the place wasn’t “busy” by any stretch of the imagination. As I mentioned, the parking lot was nearly empty when we arrived. We are a family in the restaurant industry and know what good food and service look like. We didn’t expect lightning fast timing, but basic breakfast plates shouldn’t take that long to prepare.
The Pelican down the street puts your kitchen to shame. Their food comes out hot, timely, and together, not staggered five minutes apart like ours did. My comparison to Denny’s or Waffle House wasn’t meant as a compliment. It was to say your food didn’t even meet that very low bar.
The biscuits were tough, the eggs were overcooked and browned on the bottom, and nothing had any care put into it. It tasted like the person cooking it doesn’t even eat their own food.
Dropping from 2 stars to 1 based on the owner being unable to take ownership of the poor service and food...
Read moreWas very “underwhelmed” with everything- first their is no listings menu of available foods on wall or anywhere!- even the foods and the pastries/cookies etc. under glass have zero ,zilch ,nada prices listed - you must ask fir prices and you must ask fir a menu -so when you come in for first time - no direction as to if you should sit down or order cafeteria style nor does anyone greet you- 2nd- the sandwiches and all alacarte items ESPECIALLY the pastries and desserts are OVERPRICED!! $8 fir a single turnover???? Outrageous- I ordered the club sand. With tomatoes basil soup and Caesar salad-bread was not toasted but soggy, bacon was very chewy, bread was tasteless, soup was OK- (La Madelyn beats this one hands down ) and instead of serving in a cup it’s served in a oversized bowl- not understanding why because appearance says they were to cheap to full bowl- the Caesar salad was ruined by the horrible dressing - over all impression- ordinary- nothing special , way way overpriced, I give this restaurant a year and it will close down . Disappointing but 100’s of restaurants to choose from less than 15 minutes in any direction....
Read moreThis was downright awful! We were excited to try a small local place, but left disappointed.
We were the only customers, parking lot was empty, and we should have taken that as our sign.
Thought it was nice that they give you a sample of their cake, but when it is old and moldy (all three of us literally had to spit back in the containet they serve it in) they should not serve. How do you jack up Red Velevet cake?!
I ordered the lunch combo, chicken poblan soup (I apologize for the misspellings) with no chicken in my soup, Ceasars salad, and a turkey sandwich. My husband ordered the mole omelet, that had no cheese, but lots of sauce. Our daughter ordered potato soup, she liked that, Ceasars salad, and Club sandwich, did not like anything else.
We had to get up and leave it was so bad. . .$45 loss, leaving with food poison, the meat sweats, and a horrible feeling that the food was as old as their cake displays.
This was just an unfortunate experience for all of us involved. I hate to write bad experiences, but this was necessary to share so no one has to experience...
