I have lived in the DFW Area since 2001 and watched it grow and develop over the years to what it is today. Kept hearing only wonderful things about this establishment through Yelp and Google Reviews, and decided to stop in for lunch.
Delightfully adorned with a modern, upscale vibe is this precious gem of a truly authentic Thai Restaurant. Immediately upon entering, I felt the warm, inviting energy, and welcoming aura. We were warmly greeted and seated by Tina with a smile. She handed us the food menu and the lunch specials menu, and when we told her it was our first visit, she gave us ample time to browse the variety of offerings. We chatted with her before, during, and after our meal.
The lunch special came with either veg potstickers, veg spring rolls, and a soup. Perfectly portioned. Tony was our server. He was friendly and attentive and checked on us every now and then throughout our meal.
Started things off with hot, full-bodied ginger tea; followed by a heat level 2 Pad Thai (for me) and heat level 2 Massaman Curry (for Mom). It was a pure chef’s kiss, because the flavors of both dishes really melded together nicely while simultaneously lending that perfect intensity to please the palate. Furthermore, all dishes arrived at the table piping hot, which is just another indication that the food is truly fresh.
Tina, Tony, Teju, and Jet(the chef) were the true standouts on this first visit. The chef came to our table requesting our feedback. We told him it was our first visit and that we enjoyed our meal. We opted for the Sticky Rice with Mango for Dessert. One of the warmest, most flavorful, palate-pleasing culinary experiences that we have ever had at a Thai Restaurant. There is just something about the coconut milk, rice, and toasted sesame seeds - all three ingredients truly complement one another. We also received three mini sponge cakes from the chef (not on the menu) which were delicious as well.
It is clear that this small family business takes pride in their culinary expertise, passion, commitment, and adherence to high standards of food quality. You can absolutely tell that each dish is crafted with extreme love and care. It is a small family business which deserves your patronage. Truly well executed.
Hands down, the most Legit Thai we’ve had. Food quality, quantity, service, and ambiance all excellent. I have a feeling that we will become frequent patrons here going forward. Thank you for having us and we will see...
Read moreWe are deeply disappointed in Manee Thai. We have been eating here regularly for takeout and in restaurant since the name changed to Manee. We liked supporting local business and also their food was delicious. We were there in July and ordered takeout. When we got home, our fried rice dish was not cooked all the way. The rice they had used was old and hard and crunchy, like it hadn't thawed all the way from a freezer. The chicken also had a strange fishy smell. No problem, right? We are regulars here. I'm assuming they will take care of this, easy peasy. So I gave them a call and very nicely explained the situation and asked for a refund just for the fried rice. I was told there was no manager around and there was nothing they could do but leave a note for a free redo of the fried rice. The employee sounded very unsure when I asked how that would work. I didn't feel very confident in this method, since we didn't know when our next visit would be, and whether that hand written note would even still be there or honored. So again, I explained we were long time regular customers and I just wanted to speak to a manager. Then the employee, younger male with glasses who I had picked up the order from, told me to hold and he would get the manager. ( I thought the manager was gone?) While on hold, someone picked up the phone and hung it up. So I called back and the same employee answered again. I explained the phone had been disconnected, and he said he would take my name and phone number and have the manager call me back in 10 minutes to resolve the issue. 30 minutes, an hour, 3 hours later, nothing. I even gave them 24 hours as I understand restaurants can get busy. I gave them the benefit of the doubt to call me since he promised someone would call me back. It has been 2 months, and NOTHING. It could have been so easily solved by a manager, but they chose the avoidance strategy instead. Out of principle, we will not give this restaurant our business anymore. I wish they would have just...
Read moreMy wife and I have a favorite Thai restaurant in our home town of St. Louis, MO bearing the same name, so when we saw this place open, we knew we had to try it out. Were we ever glad we did!
We tried the Vietnamese spring rolls with peanut sauce and some steamed chicken pot stickers with tamarind sauce as our appetizers. The spring rolls and sauce were delicious. The pot stickers were also good, although the sauce was a little heavy on the tamarind paste for us.
We proceeded to order the Pad Thai with fried tofu and Massaman curry with pork as our main courses. Both of these dishes were fantastic! The vegetables and pork in the curry were cooked to perfection, and the curry flavors were rich, warm and comforting. I could have easily made myself sick had I eaten as much as I wanted. I stopped well short because I wanted to try the dessert, but more on that later. The Pad Thai was equally delicious, and the portions for each of the dishes were generous.
We had a nice conversation with the owner who came out to check on us a couple of times during the meal. Shortly afterward, our dessert arrived - the mango sticky rice. Another dish cooked to perfection, the sweet mango and rice concoction made it clear we needed to come back to try many more of the dishes on the menu.
The service throughout the night was good, albeit a little confusing as multiple servers seemed to want to take our orders at various points during the meal. Given how long the restaurant has been open and the experience level of the servers, I have no doubt that these little hiccups will work themselves out in short order.
The restaurant was also clean and well-decorated. I expect nothing less from a new establishment, but it's still nice to see, just the same.
Overall, my wife an I are elated we found Manee Thai and can't wait to return to sample more...
