Last Sunday, we drove out of our way to go to Market Street to get breakfast burritos before we did our grocery shopping. The young girl with the blue nails behind the counter ruined our opinion of Market Street that day.
When she was done assembling our breakfast burritos she remarked "You totally cheated the system with all of that bacon."
1 - I don't feel like I cheated anyone or any system. If Market Street doesn't want to make burritos the way their customers want then they can compete with Rudy's and Taco Bell and make pre-made burritos according to Ms. BlueNail's specifications.
2 - I don't complain when Market Street cheats me in one of the many ways that grocery stores do. Some examples;
The sirloin looks great behind the cellophane but often the underside of the steaks has large hard fat deposits that need to be cut away. At times I've found fat scraps that were cut but hidden under the steak. Straight to trash. Out right cheating. Don't even get me started on the water soaked pads that only had weight and go straight to the trash as well. Are those accurately tared ?
What about the sausages that have so much water added to them they drip when cut ?
Or the fruits and vegetables that are assembled to hide rotting and moldy product in the center of otherwise good fruits and vegetables?
Or the often stale bread or bread that goes stale the next day because Market Street has this irregular baking schedule?
Or the fact that the deli slicers are cleaned so infrequently and so poorly that almost every deli meat we've ever bought at Market Street results in a bad stomach. (no - we don't buy any of it any more)
We spend $100-200 every time we go to Market Street or Central Market. Looks like we'll make the longer drive to Central Market from now on thanks to lil' Ms Bluenails for raising our awareness of all of the 'cheating' going on with the Market...
Read moreWORST EMPLOYER AND MANAGERS ON PLANET!!!! I am writing this review for my son who is a sacker at the store. He has been working there for 3 months now and after 2 months of working there had a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses stolen from him out of a locker that was inoperable. There are about 20 Lockers in the break room and at least 4 of them are inoperable and have been so since at least this incident. Nobody has done a thing about it and this incident occurred over 3 weeks ago...not a verbal report, written report, nothing! These sunglasses where a birthday gift from my son's girlfriend who had to work an extra job to make the almost $200 it cost to pay for them. When I confronted the management at first they tried to call other people who my son reported this incident and this was the first they had heard about it according to the management indicating that whoever my son report this to did nothing and just sat on it. I am writing this because if he writes this review he will get fired for writing a bad review. The store is fine in terms of products. However, if you have a child who you want to have a job, do not look to Market Street for employment for your child. The management showed me the palm of their hand basically, did not want to work with me, had an attitude that displayed a insensitivity to the loss, and a lack of respect toward me. They refused to take any responsibility for anything, include a lack of security cameras or maintaining lockers whose sole purpose is to safeguard employee equipment while they are workinh. Management basically referred me to their corporate office to fill out paperwork so that they can file an incident. I called the police and reported the incident which is a Class B theft because it's over...
Read moreI went there today to go shopping and when I went to the deli the guy they’re cutting my meat for me - my Cajun turkey, made this great big gob of meat put it in a pile shoved in the bag- leaving behind a couple slices( he measured a pound but minuses 2 pieces before adding the label )
I also noticed that people were wiping theirs noses and then handling meat! really? are you kidding me?!
So I have been there several times and I noticed people are working in the deli and touch the broom or they will sweep or they’ll pick up the phone and when I asked them to wash their hands and they give me a dirty look before doing so .
OK so as someone who has worked in food prep I want to tell you that cross-contamination is a serious threat- handling the broom or on the phone , wipe your nose you don’t do around meat you put a net over beards , if you have hair you tie it back you put a cap on, trim those nasty nails GET A SCRUB BRUSH AND SCRUB ALL THE DIRT OUT FROM THOSE NAILS EVERY TIME - THEN PUT ON GLOVES - Unsanitary and I’m thinking about calling heath department and filing a complaint !
These people need a manager to train them in handling food. I could do it but I do not know how much tolerance I would have for how cavalier they are towards doing the job right . Disgusting.
I will not ever shop there again they’re gross they are disgusting and they always have issues Like the baggers who absolutely have no concept of separation of meat and other items and just the way things are stocked and the way the store is not clean - I shopped there a few times - I gave it shot but I’m done. This is...
