Updated pinned location on the map, address had us on the side of the conference ballrooms, so it was a long walk, but nice to see the grounds. Valet is free and a 4 hour stay on the side lots of the ballroom is 15$ so just use valet and give the valet the 15$ instead, saving your feet that long walk.
Attire requirements are supposed to be business casual / business smart (no sandals, hoodies, tees, gym attire etc) but I'd say it's more on the lenient side and I'm ok with that.
The entrance was inconspicuous and the hostesses were inviting and polite. Make a reservation, easy to call or check online.
Walking in the bar is great! Good shock and awe factor. Live Music nightly from 7pm (stand up bass and a little light jazz throughout the night) could be worth visiting for the ambience and music if it keeps adapting and interest.
Menu is smaller but everything sounds good. Served as a full set so have all your choices (except desert ready).
Cocktails were top notch!
Down and Out was refreshing but flavorful. Brown Derby was smooth and rich. Lavender bees knees was a nice balance of refreshing, crisp sweetness, lavender forward and a hint of honey.
The shrimp cocktail was fine. We are spoiled with better quality offerings where we are from but it was satisfactory. The horseradish slaw was too tame for my liking and the cocktail sauce was not saucy or bold enough for anyone at the table. The mayo Dijon was also underwhelming.
The tuna taretare was nice, a bit heavy on the sesame oil and lacked depth but fresh and the chips had a nice salted touch to the dish.
Main meals were, a 6oz medium rare and a 6oz rare filet. Both were fantastically seasoned but they were just a tad dry on the tongue (fairly typical of steaks in Texas) but the seasoning packed a great punch.
And the salmon. The sauce puree with the salmon was incredible, light airy great umami flavor but together with other bites of food it was overpowered so best enjoyed on its own as a palate cleanser between bites. The fish was cooked perfectly (medium) but the flavors can be improved, possibly a salted butter or an acid as the oil it was cooked in coated the tongue heavily.
The highlight side was the Mac n cheese. Deep flavor profile and really rich. (We could all eat that by itself and would return for it)
The asparagus was fine, I prefer my asparagus with a crunch and these were on the softer side.
Mash potatoes were more like a potato puree. Not bad, just nothing I'd honestly go back for. Because of their liquidity they were barely warm upon arrival.
The chocolate silk pie was too delicious and worth it's weight in salted chocolate coffee goodness. That and the "special occasion" sorbet (flavors change but tonight's was passion fruit) were the highlight food orders of the night. The sorbet should go on the menu.
Plates arrived hot but food was less than so. I'd prefer if the mash was thicker and served with a cast iron skillet or a plate that will retain the heat. Even a deeper souffle dish would be better than the flatter wider bowl at holding heat.
Staff was attentive and polite and kept glasses full. It was a very quiet night but the establishment is new and I am sure adapting.
Over all the ambience is nice, I'd prefer a nicer centerpiece light as the current rechargeable is a little tacky although I'll blame the electrical designer for that also. The centerpiece chandelier is what made me want to visit and it's exceptional. I do wish they placed the restaurant at the backside with views to the courses. Being in a big black box is intimate but knowing there is a great view in a hallway for a ballroom leaves a lot to be desired.
And finally I hope the menu is seasonal and adapts as the restaurant finds it's footing. It's new and still in its teething stages. The only reason I would return is for the music, drinks, and desserts in its current state. So a refreshed seasonal menu will make it more...
Read moreOur family of four recently dined at Trick Rider, nestled inside the stunning PGA Frisco Hotel, and we can confidently say this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time.
🕯️ Ambiance & First Impressions
From the moment we arrived, the service was prompt and professional. We had dinner reservations and were seated within minutes of checking in—no long waits, no chaos, just smooth, high-end hospitality. The interior is modern, stylish, and elegant, making it perfect for both family celebrations and romantic evenings. While the lighting inside the restaurant is on the darker side—slightly more than we prefer—it adds a moody, luxurious vibe that fits the venue.
🥖 Appetizers & Bread Service
Now, let me start by saying this—I’m not typically a bread eater. But Trick Rider’s bread? Incredible. Warm, fresh, and flavorful enough to make even a bread skeptic reach for a second (or third) piece. The calamari appetizer was equally impressive—light, crispy, and expertly seasoned. It was a perfect way to kick off the meal.
🥗 Hearty Caesar Salad
We also ordered the Caesar salad, and wow—it’s not your typical starter portion. It’s hearty and generous, easily enough for two or three people to share. The flavor is bold and rich, thanks to a heavy-handed Caesar dressing. If you’re not into strong dressings, it may be a bit much, but we absolutely enjoyed it. It added great balance to the richness of the main course.
🥩 Main Course – The Trio Steak Sampler
If you try only one thing at Trick Rider, let it be the Trio Steak Sampler. Every cut of steak was seared to perfection—tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The garlic mashed potatoes that came with it were possibly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant—buttery, creamy, with just the right amount of garlic to make each bite pop. While the steak portions might look modest at first glance, they are surprisingly filling and worked out perfectly for our party of four.
🍸 Signature Drink – “All She Wrote”
We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try one of their specialty cocktails, and we’re so glad we didn’t. The “All She Wrote” is a clever, elevated blend of bourbon, Grand Marnier, and vanilla. It’s smooth, warming, and balanced with a hint of sweetness that makes it both approachable and bold. We thoroughly enjoyed this drink—it felt like a custom-crafted cocktail experience all on its own.
🍰 Dessert – Massive Carrot Cake
Even after a satisfying meal, we couldn’t resist checking out the dessert menu—and we’re so glad we did. We ordered the carrot cake, and let me just say—it’s HUGE. The portion easily feeds three to four people. It’s moist, spiced beautifully, and layered with rich cream cheese frosting. It was the perfect sweet ending to a perfect night.
✅ Final Thoughts
From start to finish, Trick Rider delivered a five-star dining experience. The service was seamless, the food was memorable, and the atmosphere elevated the entire evening. Whether you’re staying at the PGA Frisco Hotel or just in the area looking for a refined dining spot, Trick Rider is a must-visit.

We made reservations here for my wife’s 40th birthday about a week and a half ago to get the early 5:00 pm slot since we have two young children. We showed up about 10 minutes early and parked with valet who reminded us to validate our parking. Super friendly and helpful team. Upon arrival inside at Trick Rider, we sat up front in and enjoyed lots of Mary Ann Mayfield history and stories while the restaurant opened. Absolutely loved the decor of this restaurant!
Once 5 pm rolled around, we were taken back to a back corner booth, which is perfect for a family with two young kids. Our server was Diego and he was perfect. Super friendly, personable, knowledgeable of the menu, and very prompt of taking care of every want for us. Diego even brought out a little toy duck for our baby to play with during the meal. Then, at the end he gave orur oldest kid a duck to-go. Can't say enough good things about Diego.
After asking if any specials were available, to which there wasn’t, we started with the crispy artichokes and a beet salad. While our appetizers were coming, they brought us the kid-calming-down-bread, which was so warm and fluffy and served with butter, and ahhh. Since we were celebrating, my wife had her a Ketel One dirty martini and I had a Voodoo Ranger IPA. The artichokes were served with a citrus aioli that was spot on with just a touch of rosemary. I gobbled up a whole artichoke myself. Her salad was a very generous serving and very fresh and tasty, which had some amazing candied walnuts.
For the main course, I had the Whole Branzino while my wife had the Salmon. My branzino was great. Crispy skin cooked to perfection and clean fresh meat. After a few bites, I wasn’t digging the overall taste of the fish, but pulled the skin off and everything was much better. Credit to Diego for mentioning that some people don’t like the taste of the skin of this fish. My wife loved the taste of the salmon, but felt that it was cooked in too much butter/oil. For sides we had french fries, macaroni and cheese, and asparagus. All of them were tasty, but the macaroni was absolutely delicious.
For my dinner cocktail, I went with the Eagle Rare 10 year bourbon. Just as Diego mentioned, this is a very flavorful aged bourbon, but absolutely smooth.
For dessert, we ordered the carrot cake. However, after we ordered the cake, our youngest was starting to get antsy, so I went over to Diego and asked for it to-go since baby wasn't going to be happy, to which he immediately obliged. Then a couple minutes later, they served us complimentary champagne and passionfruit sorbet for my wife's birthday. My favorite fruit is passionfruit, so this was the best tastiest surprise treat ever! And once we got home, we are the carrot cake and it was perfect and even was topped with gold!
Highly recommend this place does any special...
