I go to 801 Chop and Fish several times a month since they have both opened. I went to 801 for the first time and was shocked at the dissapointment of my experience and the rudeness of the staff. We had a group of 7 for the bar 4:45 which several groups had and apparently too much to handle. But we found a group of seats and sat down. The bartender was not nice from the start because of the size of the group not having a res. But we ordered and got drinks. He asked if we were separate and we said yes. When we started to close out he told us it was our responsibility to close out together and make sure everyone’s drinks were correct on the tab otherwise the last person to close out would be responsible for drinks if he incorrectly tabbed someone. There was also a server helping tables around our group that kept coming through telling us to move because he couldn’t get through. The bar to tables are very close and if space is a problem due to someone’s size the restaurant didn’t space accordingly to ADA guidelines it’s not the consumers fault. We spent over $500 dollars in 2 hours and were treated like we were just a nuisance. I’ve never experienced this from any 801 and was shocked. Management was also running around and so friendly it seemed as if the staff was Jekyll and Hyde because in their presence they were so kind. I’ll never go back to this location. What a huge disappointment for a new chain in...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this new restaurant! My son just opened a new business, service oriented, and we were celebrating its success. We were also celebrating this past Christmas together as my husband and I had the flu and couldn’t be here from Lake of the Ozarks in December. We love to new restaurants and never put a ceiling on the cost. Our server was OK although pretty slow. But since you’re going to be charged 20% anyway on a large party, you don’t expect them to have the urgency to provide good service. We wanted another round of drinks which prompted my son to go to the bar to get a glass of wine for me and a beer for him . The bartender rudely remarked that we needed to ask our server and not come up to her. Yeah, I agree. too bad our server wasn’t around. We never should’ve had to ask for more drinks, but we got past that. when my son returned to the table, he was recounting the story to our group which prompted a large laugh from the bartender that you could hear across the restaurant really. mocking your clients? Needless to say we won’t be back which is a shame because we really enjoyed our $500 plus dinner cuisine. Obviously, you don’t need...
Read moreOk folks- this place is a MUST TRY!!! We visited on a Saturday late morning, early afternoon and ordered from the weekend brunch menu which I don't believe is posted online.
First of all, the place is beautiful. Stained wood everywhere you look- very elegant and high end. We were seated immediately, and our server was top notch. She made great recommendations and made sure everything was perfect. We were made to feel valued and special.
The food was excellent. It was hot, fresh, and delectable. The only problem we had was trying to decide what to order, because everything on both the brunch and lunch menu (and dinner menu) looked exquisite. We were both very pleased with our orders, but we are anxious to return and try some of the other menu offerings. The craft cocktails looked very interesting, and the wine list was nice.
801 Local is not inexpensive, but we left feeling very good about the entire experience, and will DEFINITELY be back very soon. Several good options for dining in this area, but this is a MUST try! Those looking for cheap eats will not be happy, but those looking for a culinary experience in a nice environment should very much...
