This is a great brunch spot! It’s pretty causal, you order at the counter and find your own table, then they’ll call your name to the counter when your food is ready. It gets really busy really quickly, especially on the weekends, so come early (before 10:00 am) if you want to avoid the crowds.
We throughly enjoyed all our food, I’m not sure there’s an item on the menu that would be bad.
The Five & Dime was a show stopping biscuit sandwich, absolutely towering with eggs, bacon, cheddar, and smothered in the gravy. It was great but definitely a fork and knife ordeal. Overall super delicious, but maybe a little big for one person.
The Farmer was my personal favorite of the items we tried. It was a simple piece of fried chicken with cheddar and bacon, absolutely drenched in their spiced apple butter. My only wish was that the apple butter was heated more before they put it on- but it was still so good I cleared my entire plate.
The Eggs-Traordinary Risky Biscuits were a great filling breakfast, once again a little too big for one person, but super tasty. The gravy has a cajun spice in it, which was a little much, but still good.
The Smashbrowns were SO good. Amazingly crispy with lots of fresh green onions inside. The ranch was tangy and had plenty of buttermilk, just like Wingstop if you’re into that.
The Biscuit and Jelly was simple in the best way. The tender biscuit was a perfect contrast to the sweet and tangy jelly.
The Maple and Vanilla Latte was good, not great, but a good start to our day : ). It didn’t have much of a maple or vanilla flavor- but was well toasted and not too sweet.
The Peach Berry Lemonade was SO flavorful. Very smooth with both the peach and berry making their voices heard. It’s a little strong at first, but once a little ice melts it’s perfect.
Overall- we loved it. I need to come back asap so I can try more items, especially the Squawking Goat- it looked too good when the table next to us ordered one!!!
UPDATE (5/11/24): We came back because we just had to try more food :)!! Once again- everything was amazing. We came the day before Mother’s day so it was pretty packed- but they still brought our food out super quickly.
The Squawking Goat was just as good as it was recommended to me! The pepper jelly was spicy and sweet and was a great contrast to the creamy and salty goat cheese.
The Lil’ Taco, although a kids meal, was very satisfying. A good breakfast taco that was absolutely loaded to the brim with avocado- which was much appreciated
The Chicken and Waffles was good, but the asiago of the waffle was a little overpowering. The chicken was super crispy and very tasty when paired with the syrup.
The Chocolate Chip Biscuit wasn’t amazing- very sweet but I’m sure a kid would love it : ).
The Biscuits and Gravy and the Two Egg Combo were very standard, but exactly what we wanted. They were hearty, filling, and warm on the cold rainy morning.
Once again, we had great food and a great experience with the staff- we will definitely be...
Read moreWe ate here a few weeks back. First off, we were driving to HEB to get some groceries and drove past this place and noticed the outdoor dining areas, however tables full of used dishes and trash… I didn’t think much of it. About 15 min later we decided to come back and try the restaurant for the first time. I wanted the family to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and the same tables, from 15 min earlier were still not bused. That was the moment I should have known to leave. The kids wanted biscuits and food so we decided to give it a try. The cashiers were a bit slow .. and when it got time for me to order I waiting nearly 4 minutes unattended at the register before the girl came back (she went to make a coffee and aide the kitchen). Finally placed the order and went outside to wait.. and wait.. and wait.. meanwhile outside more tables were getting filled with dirty dishes (yes even the same table .. over 20 minutes know that I knew of. I gave them some silly name to call out (Willy Nelson.. at their request) and waited and waited and nothing .. I ended up going inside after waiting for the food at least 20 more minutes. I had to flag someone down since nobody here seems to understand prompt service. I eventually got them to bring out the food. The food was fine.. kitchen did well.. no issues here.. but it’s all service. I noticed that nearly every person working was quite young .. maybe early college age. They were training a young guy and asked him to start cleaning the tables. The guy went outside to start cleaning , but only wiped one table down. Yes.. he left the piles and stacks of plates and old food and trash just sitting there. His supervisor came out and she didn’t even pick up the dishes.. at this point these tables had sat here dirty for close to an hour at least and even the staff who came out just left it there, as if it wasn’t their responsibility. It makes you feel kinda gross .. like the place is dirty and they don’t care about cleanliness and tidiness. I know this is a new place and if they want to survive their management better get ahold of this crew and get their act together. I hope the owner of this restaurant sees this and does something to straighten out these lazy kids. It’s a shame. We won’t come back until we know they have straightened up their act… kuddos to the kitchen for making good food.. but that’s not enough to keep us coming back. ...
Read moreThere's a lot to like here, but the main draw -- the biscuits -- are the biggest disappointment.
I tried a Squawking Goat recently and was mostly impressed. The fried chicken breast was tender and juicy but nowhere near the size depicted on the company's website. The creamy smooth goat cheese was a nice contrast to the bite of the pepper jelly, too. The biscuit, however, was a bit of a letdown. I know they make them regularly and in small batches so they should always be fresh but mine was kind of stale and hard, and lacked moisture or a buttery zing that a good southern style biscuit has.
A dining companion had the "Extreme Biscuits and Gravy" with bacon and it too featured dry, hard biscuits. The peppery sausage gravy was thick, creamy and delicious, though. The eggs and bacon were just okay, too. Nothing bad, but nothing to justify the prices charged.
Easily the most disappointing thing I tried, though, were the Smashbrowns. The two pieces I received were greasy and burnt, negating any good flavor from the creamy potato interior bits. The ranch dipping sauce couldn't save these things.
Ending on a positive note, I'll say that the workers at this location were all really nice and pleasant to deal with, which was nice as I'd never been to one of these before.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but not worth it for the cost (or calories!) to eat on a...
