Classic, Old Fashioned Pub
This was the perfect place for an early light dinner on a Wednesday night recently. Harp & Clover was easy to find even though it was our first time there and we were visitors to Gadsden. The authentic old brick street outside adds to the charm of this place. A brick patio on the side is lovely and looks like the perfect romantic spot for couples in the back and groups towards the street side. Inside it's like you're walking into an old Pub. We sat at tables at the windows for our meal. There's a long bar and this place must be known for its beer selection. The ladies all ordered shepherd's pie, and the men rounded out the table with various hot sandwiches. The shepherd's pie dishes were tiny, but especially tasty and strangely filling. Disappointing was a green salad with pecans and strawberries. A big bowl of fresh dark green lettuce arrived, with 4 strawberry slices and no pecans. The lettuce was fresh, crunchy, and tasted great but it doesn't feel right to eat a big bowl of lettuce with not much else. Our young waitress didn't seem to understand our consternation but brought an entire the bar had filled up, and most of the tables had too. We will...
Read moreUnfortunately my experience was not good food wise . I had the flank steak and eggs. The flank steak was so tough I couldn't even chew it I tried because I really wanted to have lunch I was starving. I returned it and just didn't order anything because my friend was already finished with their food by the time the server came to check on us. That was another thing that was disconcerting was the fact that when I told the waitress about my meal she said okay and then she continued to clean off the table next to us instead of immediately taking care of the concern of the customer. I do have to give them credit that they try to make it right by giving me a different set of flank steak and eggs but I just didn't want to wait another 30 minutes. The person I was eating with had the chicken nuggets and fries which for $25.95 was very small , it had 4 nuggets and a handful of fries you got dessert with that price but I just have to say this was nothing special. Everything was $25.95 no matter if you got the three pancakes or the steak and eggs or the chicken nuggets. It was a little pricey for me I did like the atmosphere outside.
Overall for $25.95 it should have been a whole lot better and...
Read moreNice spot for a restaurant, atmosphere was really laid back and peaceful out on the brick patio. We went on a Friday night as we are just passing thru, we thought it would be busy as they have good reviews and to our surprise it wasn’t busy at all, we were seated immediately which was awesome! The hostess said our waitress would be with us in a minute, about 10 minutes later she showed up and asked what we would like to drink, my husband asked if they could make a Black and Tan and I was stunned when the waitress said our LOUD to my husband “EWWW, gross!” I’m not sure if they can but I can ask… she turned left and came back about five minutes later and said “Good news they can make it, even though I don’t know why you would want to drink that.” From that point the atmosphere was totally off putting. The food was very good and hot, the food runner was more personable then our waitress was. If you asked the waitress for anything it was a couple minute wait each time. What started out as a nice little place turned into somewhere I wouldn’t go back too. Below is their version of. Black and Tan… not sure what they think a Black and Tan is but...
