Food is great. Service is AWFUL! We eat here fairly often. The last few times it’s just got worse and worse. Last time they had no cheese. How does a pizza place run out of cheese? The “manager” kept saying she was going to get some but continued to run around like a chicken with her head cut off for 20+ minutes, so we left and went to CJ’s, where the service and food both were great. This time we sat and waited about 15-20 minutes before someone in our group asked the “manager” if we could get some menus in which she responded “we’re doing a lot of bar service so you can order at the bar or I’ll get to you when I get a chance”. Is it not a restaurant? You don’t tell a restaurant customer to get up and order at the bar. Then, a different girl came to take our order at the table and had an awful attitude like she had better things to do. Never once came back to the table again. While eating I had to get up and refill our teas and water myself, and then get our to go boxes. The place literally was not that busy. The only decent server is the girl with the super short hair, which is the ONLY reason we left tips. Heck, the cook that brought the food out of the back was better at serving than the actual servers. We use to love the Blackstone but I HIGHLY doubt we will be back, and we’re not the only ones. Literally watched the same thing happen to another family who were getting noticeably irritated. Catch us...
Read moreWe enjoyed a delicious after trail hiking (James D. Martin this particular Sunday as Noccalula was packed with high school biking teams.) meal in this downtown Gadsden, Alabama alehouse just today! Ordered two ravishing on tap craft beers (A Scottish kilt and a chocolate mint? I only sample sipped as I was driving and am admittedly a beer, ale, lager, mead, etc. novice.) and two Frankie B and the Hoff salads out of culinary curiosity and healthy hunger. WOW!!! What a flavorful combination of crisp greens, tender meats, lively vegetables with tangy cranberries, scrumptious Feta cheese crumbles, chunky buttery croutons and zesty dressings! We couldn't ... just wouldn't put our forks down! Savory and sweet and... dang... just simply genius good! Our waitress and the staff that encouraged our leisurely sit down at the bar lunch were personable and professional. The interior/exterior atmosphere was family friendly comfortable and somewhat reminiscence of local pubs nestled in the British Isle communities, but Southern familiar with 100% real American laughter and G-PG conversations. There were several big screen offerings for interested viewers, but I more so witnessed folks partaking of good food cuisine and good natured company. Such a last day of the weekend before the real world week begins get away treat! We hope to return and try another offering...
Read moreI love this place, I love the beer on tap, I love the atmosphere, we try to come as often as possible, etc. We just drove 45 minutes to come eat at Blackstone. When we looked up the kitchen hours, it said 10pm. it’s now 9:33pm. I decided to call ahead, just to be courteous, so by the time we got there, at 9:45, it would be ready before they closed. Unfortunately when I called, the automated system said the kitchen closed at 9:30. They need to update their hours because I am highly displeased. Advertising the wrong hours, really wasted our time. Now it’s 10pm and we’re 45 minutes away from home with no pizza. Also, lately there have been a lot of inconsistencies when it comes to service and communication. We have been told several times by staff that we have to order from the bar due to the waiters going home, while the waiters are still there taking care of other tables. We’ve been told before by staff that the kitchen closes at 10pm as well. Bartenders are pretty great and usually stay on top of your drinks and needs. I would recommend the bar over having a waiter. Waiters and waitresses are typically rude and easily...
