BITE DOWN BBQ LLC — Restaurant in Gainesville

The food was so good, and I don't even like barbecue. We had been seeing them on the corner of 13th street for ages before finally succumbing to the delicious, tantalizing smells. We had the ribs with original barbecue and two sides (rice and macncheese), a chicken sandwich with jerk sauce, and a Pineapple Lemonade. Again, coming from someone that doesn't like barbecue typically because of the smoked aspect, they are doing something damn right with the way they smoke their meats. The meat is still tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Pineapple Lemonade tastes like pineapple upside down cake in liquid form - it's gold, but if you're looking for something more tart and lemony, it probably wouldn't be your style because it's SWEET. Tangy, but very, very sweet. The only setbacks were the fact that I could've used a little bit more seasoning on the rice and macncheese - the meat had flavor, but the sides seemed to lack a little. However I will say that the sides had the best textures I have ever had for macncheese and rice. Along with that, I wish we saw some different bread, like maybe some Texas style toast for the chicken sandwich. Regardless, this was an absolutely A+ meal and we look forward to trying more menu items and frequenting...

If you are a fan of real BBQ and live in the Gainesville, FL area, consider yourself lucky. Bite Down BBQ provides. They set up at the corner of Archer Road & 34th Street and utilize several delivery services. (They also do events.) There are many offerings but for the life of me I can’t get away from the ribs. Succulent and tender, a rib dinner, if consumed in its entirety, will require a long nap – or you can do what I do and save some for lunch the next day. (Insider tip: Ask them to “sauce it up” and you’ll have a variety of delicious sauces applied.) I sampled the Haitian specialty griot, and it was excellent. Tender with a spicy sauce, it’s a carnivore’s delight served with rice and fried plantains. Traditional sides like mac & cheese, beans, and greens are available. Is this cheap food? Best find I could have hoped for! I found bite down on Google and figured I'd give it a shot bc the reviews. I pulled up to a clean food truck and a father/daughter power team! I love bbq and can be a tough critic but they didn't disappoint. Some of the best ribs I had in a while. Proud Haitian family dropped some options with their own style if you want. I got a side of Pikliz, a spicy coleslaw and OMG it was delicious. Planned to bring some to my wife but unfortunately for her I ate it all!! Not a local but I will be back when next trip to Gainesville. Nothing but blessings and good vibes to this business...
