i’m very appalled by my recent experience, i’m a general manager over at a business in Butler Plaza and I know that if my franchise owner ever heard of any of his Managers acting in such a manner he would have them fired immediately. On friday night, around midnight. My boyfriend, his friend, and I pulled into Checkers. We got out of our vehicles and a woman in a grey colored punch-buggy i believe to be smoking a cigarette along with another girl, we later learned her name was Jessica and that she’s the supposedly the General Manager, started making degrading comments about their vehicles, mind you we literally just parked and got out the cars. My boyfriend and his friend just tried to laugh it off but she kept going. At this point we just ignored the comments and asked if they were still serving. She said it was Drive-Thru only after she said “not you guys”, we just took it as a joke as we’d literally just pulled in so we then proceeded to our cars to get into the drive thru. Now his friend is at the intercom ordering just a drink through the AI system, a few moments after he orders a woman’s voice pops on and starts again with the comments, his friend tries to lighten it up into a little banter, but when my boyfriend and i got up there, we realized there was some actual truth behind all this attitude. We pull up and order a loaded fry with again the AI system. I was lowly telling my boyfriend about how uncomfortable the women were making me. He told me that it was all probably just them joking around and we shouldn’t take it so seriously. I agreed, at this point we’re still waiting in the drive-thru. My boyfriend rolls his window down and whistles to his friend in a playful manner and a minute or so later a woman says “You Cute” over the intercom, my boyfriend remains silent as he was now uncomfortable. The woman says “Now you’re not talking but you were just whistling at me a second ago”. At this point i speak up, I said “i’m sorry he was whistling at his friend in front of us”. From there she keeps going on about the cars and now the whistle, finally after a few very uncomfortable minutes as the drive-thru was extremely slow, we finally move one pace up. The General Manager (“Jessica” - white woman maybe in her 40s, black hair) comes up from the back door and starts talking about the cars again, at this point all three of us are completely over it. She said something along the lines of “what are you still doing here?”… mind you we’re still waiting on food. My boyfriend says “yea why wouldn’t we be waiting? should i not be?” as we are genuinely confused. Jessica says “Because we aren’t serving you with those cars, get out of my drive thru.” Mind you my boyfriend has a stock mustang, and yes he revs when he goes under bridges and stuff but from the moment we pulled in we weren’t doing anything obnoxious, we genuinely were hungry and thirsty. My boyfriend then says “Okay well we can’t get out as the people 3 cars in front of us haven’t gotten their food” She then tells us to back out, and that she’s a law student or something. My boyfriend says “I don’t feel comfortable backing out, i don’t want someone pulling in to get hurt, i’ll wait and just pull out” mind you everyone is still waiting in the drive-thru. She then starts saying she’ll call the cops and my boyfriend says “Okay, that’s your choice, but i’ll be waiting until i can pull out comfortably. “. We did not get our food, and ended up going to mcdonald’s down the road which has amazing staff and we’re very lovely to speak with. Overall it was a terrible experience and terrible brand representation. As an actual General Manager who cares about the business and brand I represent, either do better or find another job. I will be calling in the morning to speak to the General Manager. As there’s no way she can be the person Checkers has chosen to represent them. Not Surprised they have...
Read moreI've been to this location twice, both at the walk-up window. The first time, I arrive around 8:00 pm and stand by the window waiting to place my order. About 25-30 minutes go by before an employee opens the window just to tell me that am not allowed to place an order at the window, and that I'll have to place an order online. Already kind of ticked off, but I figure I'm already there so I'll just order online and get my food real quick. I then wait for another 20-25 minutes while other customers arrive and are now waiting for their food as well. A couple people who ordered online similarly to me finally just left, and at this point I went and knocked on the window to see what was going on. A lady opens the window and says that they don't even see my order and tell me to order again. I'm not sure why I didn't just leave at this point, but I ended up ordering again as they said, and another 15 minutes later I finally got my food, kind of cold, and definitely not worth the wait, but at least it was something.
A few months pass and I decide to try getting food there for a second time, since the food was alright and I convinced myself maybe the first time was just a fluke or something. So I walk up to the window, and this time, someone actually takes my order, which I guess I'll give them credit for as it was technically an improvement over my last visit. However, I go sit down, and as I feared, I wait, and wait, and no food. I see people pulling through the drive through and leaving with their orders, but I don't hear anything about mine. So after at least 45 minutes of intermittently checking the window to see if anyone would care enough to tell me if there was an issue with my order or anything. I go knock on the window, and a completely different person opens it and asks me what I want to order. I tell them that I had already ordered and they, apparently surprised that I had not gotten my food yet, tell me that they'll make it now. So after 15 minutes they bring my food out, no apology or anything, and that was that. To their credit, the food wasn't cold this time, but if I was willing to wait over an hour for a meal, I would go to an actual restaurant; you can not even call this a "fast" food place at this point when you have to order 3 times and constantly remind the employees that you are still there.
Rest assured, I don't think I'll gamble with this place again. I like the fries, but the rest of the food is just alright, not nearly worth having to deal with the...
Read moreI gots to Great burgers and an order of fries and a drink for just $3.50. I couldn't believe that price and the burgers were outstanding and so are the fries. I almost never eat fast food. But I was so hungry that night as I'd already walked about three miles from Magnolia Park on 39th. Just getting some exercise and I just realized that I was hungry after shopping at the Publix there at Westgate. The manager there was very accommodating that's my cell phone was going dead. He let me plug a cell phone in side the kitchen area for a few minutes which got me enough juice to figure out how to navigate my way back. I was thinking about getting some of their ice cream or something else but I thought if I get that I'm going to be stuffed. I'm not used to eating that much. So for $3.50 of thinking that was a huge amount of food for $3.50. I don't even think you could make it yourself for that. I know you couldn't. Those fries are some of the best fries you'll ever eat! If you haven't tried Checkers fries then you haven't tried really great fries. They're not average that's for sure. And their hamburgers are above average too. I think I got a crispy chicken sandwich and what hamburger. And I think the hamburger was with everything on it and the crispy chicken had tomato and lettuce onion and mayonnaise so it pretty much had everything to and I got some extra mayonnaise to put on both so both were very tasty. Again, if you want a great deal and fill yourself up to what feels like you almost ate too much, then just have $4 in your pocket and you'll still have change left over after tax. Checkers is definitely a good place for a quick meal and an easy fill up. But as everyone knows fast food all the time is not the most healthy thing but at least it's delicious when you do eat it you're at checkers. And I remember the manager telling some other customers that they were open until 4 a.m. . I believe this was on a Thursday night. So they're almost open 24/7. So that was another great thing is that while most other restaurants are all closed they're at Westgate the checkers is open until 4 a.m. . At least I think that was Thursday. So I'm assuming Friday and Saturday would also be at least 4 AM. And it might be 4 a.m. every single night I'm not sure. But they're open late...
