Tonight, I went to a new restaurant in town that serves a unique type of sushi - hotdog sushi. Yes, you read that right. Instead of traditional sushi ingredients, they use hotdogs as the filling and wrap them in rice and seaweed. I was skeptical at first, but I have to admit, it was surprisingly delicious. As I was enjoying my hotdog sushi, I couldn't help but notice the rain pouring down outside. It was a heavy downpour, and the sound of it hitting the roof of the restaurant was almost deafening. But despite the noise, there was something calming about watching the rain fall. To add to the ambiance, there was live jazz music playing in the background. The smooth sounds of the saxophone and piano mixed with the rain created a cozy atmosphere that was hard to leave. It got me thinking about how strange it was to be eating hotdog sushi while it was raining outside and listening to live jazz music. Two completely unrelated things, yet they somehow came together to create a unique experience. I guess that's the beauty of life - unexpected things happen, and sometimes it’s just what you need. P.S. - Sushi pic not included.

TLDR: mediocre service and cold food. Good drinks, and good environment, but skip the food. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because I heard such raving reviews about it. The environment is FANTASTIC — it is so cutely decorated and the ambiance is divine. But, although the server was very sweet, she seemed very scatterbrained and rarely checked up on us. I understand that the environment may be less attentive, but our food took an extremely long time to come out, and it was cold. She did provide us with 20% off our bill (I assume to compensate for the long wait times), but I feel like proper communication could have prevented this issue altogether. Not only that, but I ordered fries and a Caesar salad, which don’t exactly take a long time, and neither should be soggy (although I was happy with the salad being cold). The food was just sub par, and it could’ve been avoided! The drinks, however, were super yummy, and I’d come back for those. But, I’d probably eat at home. Or do take out from somewhere else.

Pretty pricey for what you get, but it was fresh & yummy and our table was clean, so we didn't mind as much. Staff was friendly as well. The alcoholic beverages are tiny and LOADED with ice and we were served small cups of room temp tap water with our meals, which I found odd. Lol No ice, just warm-ish water. My alcoholic beverages were SUPER strong, so at least they don't rip you off at the bar lol, however they weren't mixed very well, so they didnt taste that great. Maybe they have a new bartender who was unfamiliar with how to mix those particular cocktails. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Idk. Anyway, our food was good and came out fast and the atmosphere was fun. I doubt I'll go back next time I'm in Gainesville only bc of the prices vs what we got, but it's worth at least 1 visit. It was the only restaurant open near our hotel, so we went there to grab a late dinner after driving all day. They are open late, so they have that going for them.

Our latest experience at Crybaby’s on December 7th was beyond frustrating. We arrived at 6:45 PM, were seated at 7:02 PM, and placed our orders shortly after. The first plate of food appeared at 7:42 PM, but the rest never arrived. After repeatedly asking staff to check on our order, we were told—an hour and a half after we ordered—that the food was still “being made.” At that point, we’d had enough, paid for our drinks, and left. We took note of the texts when our table was ready and even started a stopwatch when we realized it had been a while and no food had arrived.

What made this worse was the rude and dismissive attitude from one of the male servers. When we inquired why our food was delayed while others who came in well after us were served, he claimed that food was made “as it came in/ordered.” That might make sense if our food had actually been started. Meanwhile, the female server was apologetic and even seemed confused, asking if we were enjoying our food and drinks—only to realize we hadn’t even received our meals. They offered to comp our food 25% but at that point it didn't even matter as the mood was ruined for the night and we decided to leave since our food wasn't even done and they had our order wrong.

This isn’t our first bad experience. We've visited before on October 5th and the service was just as chaotic. The place was nearly empty, yet our server still messed up multiple parts of our order. Worse, we were charged for a meal that never arrived, and resolving the issue was a nightmare. Phone calls went unanswered, and only through Instagram DMs were we able to get a response.

It’s deeply disappointing because I want to support local businesses. But Crybaby’s consistently fails to deliver even basic customer service, let alone a reasonable...

I rarely write negative reviews, but after a particularly frustrating experience, I felt compelled to share. My party and I visited Cry Baby’s as we have previously enjoyed the restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by an excessively long wait that soured what should have been a pleasant meal. Upon arrival, we joined the waitlist and were promptly seated, and our drink orders were taken quickly. However, things started to unravel when we ordered our food. After 30 minutes passed, we started to get concerned. A waiter came up to us for an update, and we were told: "They come in as it’s order." This vague explanation didn't sit well with us, especially as we kept hearing the same "5-15 minutes" response with no further clarity. An hour later, still no food. While we understand that the kitchen might be busy, there was no communication or acknowledgment of the delay beyond the same reassurances. The waitress was kind and apologetic, but it's clear that the restaurant needs to rethink their system. We were left with no option but to leave without eating. It's disappointing because the food might have been great, but we’ll never know. In the end, we’re not blaming the waitress—she was doing the best she could under the circumstances. However, the lack of transparency and the disorganized pacing left us feeling overlooked and frustrated. Something needs to change, whether it's a better system for handling orders or clearer communication with customers about wait times. Until then, unfortunately, we won’t...

My review has nothing to do with the food, from what I heard the burger was actually really good.

My poor review has to do with the kid who answered the phone last night about 7:30pm. I was trying to surprise someone eating there and pay their bill for a special occasion. I began by asking if it was busy, since if it was, I wouldn't have requested if I can pay for someone's tab over the phone.

After he told me it wasn't busy and they had plenty of open tables I asked if I could please pick up the bill for 3 people eating there and gave description of one of them to see. He placed down the phone and I heard him say softly "I don't want to do this" and came back on and said he couldn't find the 3 girls since they were busy. At least make an attempt to find them before you lie to me. I texted one of the girls I was trying to surprise to see if it was busy and she typed back that they were one of the few tables. Sad that this remedial task was too difficult for someone to handle. I personally would NEVER go to this place when I come to visit and I am sure neither with the girls who were eating there after I told them what happened. This could have been a lovely gesture and instead turned out to be too complicated for someone with zero motivation. I apologize if the person who answered the phone has a sight problem but this didn't seem to...
