Update from original post: The staff are still nice and the overall flavor of the donuts are still good, but this and the other Gainesville location have new owners who seriously SKIMP on the cream in their filled donuts. That boat load of cream was the whole reason for my raving review last year! I mentioned the missing cream issue to one of the location owners, and got some excuse about the donuts sticking together when filling them, but I'm thinking..'squeeze harder'. Lol. The missing cream isn't an isolated incident as the last 4 times I got a dozen of cream filled..they were nearly empty. I seriously miss the original owner and all that cream. The flavor is still good, but without the cream...they're just as lacking as that other DD donut shop in town. It's a sad decline from the original owner's ambitious love of stuffed donuts. Original review: This is the review I'm most excited to do! I'm not even kidding you! Their donuts are Sooooo good! The flavor is buttery and they're always fresh, even at the end of the day. I go for the creme filled ones because there's so much creme in them. When I'm done eating one, I almost always have more creme in the last bite than I do donut! Lol. Danny's donuts put Dunkin' to a crying shame with their pitiful one tsp of creme in their "non-creme filled" donuts. If I could do a commercial for Dannys..I'd do it in a minute!! The bonus in going there is that I've always found an extra donut, or a few donut holes thrown in when I open the box to eat them. Great price..amazing donuts and friendly smiles..always! Very surprising for a small, unadvertised family chain. You can't beat them..PERIOD. PS..I don't work for Danny's..I'm just a believer in...
Read moreWent here in the morning for some breakfast. After knowing how great the doughnuts here are, I wanted to try other items. I decided to get the Adventure Burrito that had eggs/chorizo, grilled bacon & sausage, potatoes and shredded cheese. I also noticed tucked away near the cash register a Top Secret Menu! I ended up getting the Master Mix Nitro Brew on the rocks. The atmosphere was very cozy with a lot of customers coming in either to get an order to go or to eat inside. I received my drink first and it looked and tasted great. The Adventure Burrito was surprisingly big! I was also given a small cup of in-house verde salsa which when I added to the burrito gave it a spicy but delicious added flavor to it. I was glad I hadn't finished all of my drink yet as I used it to help cool down my mouth. I was quite impressed with the food & service and thanked the person up front for the salsa. I also got a 1/2 dozen box of assorted doughnuts for my folks back home. I can definitely say that Danny's Donuts has made a name for itself similar along the lines of El Sombrero another City/County staple. And with these other adventurous options, I can see good things for them...
Read moreDanny’s Donuts is a family owned eatery featuring handmade donuts and breakfast sandwiches, but also offering ice cream, smoothies, and coffee. It is located in a nondescript shopping center near Main Street and Jesse Jewell Parkway. There are five locations in Gainesville (2), Flowery Branch (2), and Buford (1).
We ordered six dozen donuts (glazed, blueberry cake, maple bacon, apple fritters, cinnacrunch) and a Smoked Sausage Breakfast Burrito.
Customer service was solid and my breakfast burrito was ready within an appropriate time frame.
All of the donuts were fresh, fluffy, and tasty. I particularly loved the sweet saltiness of the maple bacon. My husband woofed down the apple fritter before I could even ask to taste it.
The breakfast burrito is simple - meat, cheese, egg, diced potatoes, tortilla. But it is also delicious and filling.
I am in Gainesville periodically for work. I have been told never to visit Gainesville without bringing a box of donuts home. I am also intrigued with their donut and ice...
