Tucked away in the heart of Gainesville, Florida, DJ's Cast Iron Burgers is a humble food trailer with a big personality and even bigger flavors. My recent pilgrimage to this culinary mecca was nothing short of a revelation, an odyssey of taste and texture that left me craving more long after the last bite had been savored.
As my wife and I approached the unassuming trailer, we were greeted by the intoxicating aroma of sizzling beef mingling with the earthy scent of cast iron. It was a promise of the feast to come, a siren call drawing us inexorably closer to the window where our burger dreams would soon be realized.
And oh, what dreams they were. The burgers at DJ's are not merely meals – they are works of art, crafted with care and precision by a master of his craft. Each patty, seared to perfection on the cast iron griddle, boasted a crust so caramelized it practically sang with flavor. And the toppings – fresh lettuce, ripe tomato, and gooey cheese – elevated the humble burger to new heights of gastronomic glory.
But it wasn't just the food that made our visit memorable. It was the sense of community, the feeling of kinship that permeated the air as we shared stories and laughter with our fellow burger aficionados. In the cramped confines of the trailer, we found not just sustenance, but connection – a shared appreciation for the simple pleasures of good food and good company.
In a world of pretentious bistros and overpriced eateries, DJ's Cast Iron Burgers is a breath of fresh air, a reminder that true culinary greatness can be found in the most unexpected of places. If you find yourself in Gainesville, do yourself a favor and seek out this hidden gem. Your taste buds...
Read moreA very excellent burger! It’s everything you need and want in a smash burger. Fries are unparalleled and cheese sauce is divine. But dear reader, this is not a review of DJ’s Cast Iron Burgers. Not truthfully. THIS is a review of the paid parking lot in which DJ’s resides.
If you love smash burgers, DJ’s is a must.
But … If you choose to park in this lot, be aware that you must pay via the app. Your comings and goings will be photographed. If you fail to pay, you will be sent a notice in the mail from “Professional Parking Management” stating that you owe $45, if paid within 15 days, and beyond that brief window, $85. Plus taxes and additional fees for paying online or by phone.
They threaten collections and potentially booting your vehicle if you fail to comply with their demands.
While within their rights to attempt to collect, it feels very shady and borderline illegal.
DJ’s has no control over this matter, and nor should they. And they have signs up to help alert you to the fact that it’s a paid lot and staying beyond the ten minute grace period is NOT free.
As for me, I did the crime, and I’m fully responsible for my own actions, and will take the steps to correct this egregious breach of trust.
I just want you, dear reader, to be armed with the best possible information while you’re ingesting a supremely delicious smash burger.
I want you to know that parking is strongly...
Read moreI gave my burger order to the staff at the food truck. Saw the staff entering information in the pad. Someone approached and the staff paused. This may have been where the communication interruption happened. Once the staff gave that person their order. They came back to my order. I thought I was adding on to my order and said I wanted to add a cookie. I then paid and the screen was on the tip page when I signed after giving a tip. The staff then has my cookie ready. I wait to the side after getting that. Then think well maybe I should just sit. By the time I got to the table, I got a message saying my food was being package and to go back to the truck. I get there and say my name and that I’m picking up. The staff says “I ordered the cookie” I’m thinking that’s how he is remembering who I am but that yes I’m waiting on the rest of my order. He says oh it’s an automatic message and he will send a text when the food is ready (is what I thought I heard next). I then wait 30min and go back up. I ask about the burger and he says he didn’t get that order. Likely pausing someone’s order to give someone else their order is what would cause this type of confusion. I was offered 50% discount but I hadn’t eaten all day and had become jittery. I just decided to make it back to my car rather than wait more for another order or to give money to the company, unfortunately, after...
