Tl;Dr: sandwich had less flavor than one from a gas station, service was embarrassingly bad

Visiting from out of town, was interested in the reviews of this place and the food looked good in the photos. However after waiting for over a half hour on one incredibly bland sandwich, in an incredibly disorganized and unfriendly environment I have no idea how this place has the reviews it has. While some of the younger employees were hard working and nice, there were a couple older employees just standing around BSing with patrons, to quote one man "you're my witness I'm just gonna stand here and do nothing" and worse openly mocking customers that they themselves referred to as regulars with other patrons as soon as that patron left. There's also no indication, at least not that I saw, that the store is cash only until after you've already placed your order. I ordered the number 1 and was happy to see prosciuttini on an Italian, what I got tasted like bland boiled ham, there was no identifying flavor to any of the 4 meats included in the sandwich and they all tasted like the most generic boiled ham I've ever had, the only real flavor in the sandwich came from the peppers I put in it, but having ordered two different types of peppers and to not even have one in every bite made for an incredibly underwhelming sandwich especially when the sandwich by itself cost over $10, not including the convenience fee at the atm. When I'm in town again in a couple weeks I know one place I will not...

This is my happy place!!!! I've been coming here forever- over 20 years, and I don't know how the best keeps getting better, but it just does. Hogan's is a Gainesville institution/tradition that began in 1983. They cut meat and cheese FRESH as you order your sandwiches. They usually have a special sandwich at a discount.

They have an "around the world" program, which gives gives you a free shirt after you drink beers from around the world. THEN they have discount day- If you wear your shirt you get happy hour prices all day-on Sunday. People who wear a Gator shirt on Saturday get $0.50 off their already low priced pitchers.

If you order an 8 inch sandwich, it's so thick it's hard to take a bite of. I highly recommend getting your sandwiches extra pressed- because they are so thick the cheese middle may not melt all the way if you don't. I love Italian salad dressing on the side to dip my sandwich in...

Aaaaaand if that isn't enough to make you a regular already- the sandwich deli part of the buisness is at the front, so you can grab a sandwich quickly, you can place an order a little in advance and pick it up, without having to wait at the bar... No I don't work here, it's just my favorite Gainesville spot. You are welcome!!!! ENJOY! GO GATORS!

Great local sandwich shop with the perfect location of being right next to the University's campus with it's mixture of buildings and amenities, as well as SEVERAL different off-campus housing apartment/condo neighborhoods that range from your standard 2 or 3 bedroom apartments to a more high-end style type of condo's. Now with a menu boasting around 15 - 20 different type of sandwiches to choose from and a beer license, you couldn't ask for a more ideal demographic of people for place with great tasting sandwiches that are affordable if you tried. Although the summer months may be a little thin for Hogan's profits, that lovely piece of paperwork giving them the ability to add a handful of different kinds of cold beer to their beverage menu with a densely packed population young men & women in their 20's for the rest of the year and you won't need a degree to figure out that Hogan's great tasting sandwiches and cold beer will be there for you to enjoy many more times because this place doesn't look like it's gonna be closing it's doors for several years or even decades into the...

Times are tough and times are hard, here's your freakin' Christmas card! That popped into mind being a longtime off-and-on Hogan's sandwich enjoyer over almost two decades now. While still fresh and delicious, unfortunately shrinkflation has struck in the form of less meat, fewer toppings, and sides just shy of what you'd expect weight wise from the menu for the price. White bread was fresh, and size wise the foot long #2 (the LeBeau for old school fans who remember the joint's colorful history and copyright beef with a certain greedy TV studio back in the day) was a solid lunch. Halved six-inch pictured plus a side view of the goods. Sour cream based red potato salad was good, but I didn't care for the slaw which was kind of a cool mess. At two bucks for under half a pound each, no biggie. Despite this, still competitive with a local chain or few and worth the drive across town for me. Side note, I'm setting a countdown in the back of my head to see if the dead looking coin-op Galaga arcade machine in front of the register either comes back to life or sees some DIY retrogamer snag it someday.

A Gainesville Institution—Hogan’s Is Simply Unmatched If you’re searching for the best sub in Gainesville, stop searching. Hogan’s isn’t just a sandwich shop—it’s a local legend. Every sub is crafted with care, not slapped together like you see elsewhere. These sandwiches are culinary art, stacked high with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. The menu? Vast. The portions? Generous. The daily specials? Always worth checking out. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, there’s something here that’ll hit the spot. And the vibe? Think vintage Americana meets military tribute. The decor is proudly old-school, with a rich, respectful nod to service members that gives the place real heart. Bottom line: Hogan’s is a must-visit. No one does subs better. No one. Hands down.
