Coffee culture has great food, coffee, and a fun atmosphere. However, the drive through has been repeatedly miles below the inside standard due purely the customer service. There is a young woman who interrupts you to bark at you, is rude, and pushy. I’m not sure if it’s the same woman, the guys have been polite, but she interrupts you and cuts you off to tell you in an annoyed tone to not order pastries or to only order pastries upfront, or repeatedly asks you “is that all” directly after you ask for a moment, even if there is no one in line. (I needed to ask my friend her order in the seat next to me, and genuinely needed only 30 seconds. We had been ordering for less than a minute.)
She is not friendly, she isn’t even polite. I’ve been to many coffee shops around Gainesville, and I’ve gone to coffee culture for around four years. I’m not the first one to notice or say something in my friend group (who all enjoy coffee culture). The young lady working the drive through needs to learn basic kindness, politeness, and manners. I’ve worked customer service for years and this is not how you treat customers, especially polite ones who ignore rudeness. I’ve ignored it as I never have problems inside (and we all have bad days) however this has happened way too many times for me to believe it’s just someone having a bad day or going through training. I just want my coffee in the mornings without being yelled out or treated with a bad attitude, or pulling up to the window and hearing the same barking barista yelling about how annoying the customers are.
Side note: I’m usually happy to leave positive reviews and very rarely leave a negative one. The drive through experience has been too bad just one too many times for me to brush it off. I highly recommend going to coffee culture only if you plan on...
Read moreUpdate 8/11/25: Finally, my husband and I had time to eat-in at Coffee Culture on a sunny Monday afternoon. We ordered a square puff pastry of spinach & feta, cheesecake brownie, pumpkin chocolate pastry, 2 blueberry muffins, small hot vanilla latte, and large hot chocolate with vanilla. Total cost was about $40.
The place only had 1 table occupied when we arrived so we beat the lunchtime coffee crowd. By the time we left (around 30 minutes after we arrivef), there were another 6 tables occupied.
Tables seemed clean though it appeared the place was a bit on the dusty side since we decided to sit near the internet router area and there was a thick layer of dust around the cords. Parking situation is rough once people start filling in so would recommend the drive thru if you're not interested in squishing into the limited spaces. Would return here for another visit and use the drive thru ^_^
2024: Visited the drive thru on a rainy Thursday for hot tea and ended up buying 2 hot green teas plus 7 cookies: 2 chocolate chip cookies and 5 snickerdoodles. Tea hit the spot. The cookies were a hit with the management and my co-workers. My husband and I shared a chocolate chip cookie; it was crunchy, soft and just sweet enough to satisfy my snack craving. The drive thru window girl was really friendly and helpful with offering information on the baked goods. Spent about $40 including a generous tip on the order.
We will definitely be back to stop by and order in to see what they have on a day with...
Read moreMy favorite little coffee shop in all of Gainesville. With a super alternative vibe, alive internet cafe, and a stage with a piano on it for Open Mic nights, Coffee Culture sets the mark for the perfect Coffee Cafe that truly has artistic culture and is welcoming to all kinds of people. There's even a library inside and a lounge where you can sit with your coffee and read a good book. There's also a closet open for customers that has board games that you could sit with friends and play. The coffee tastes insanely amazing no matter what coffee you get it's going to be delicate, tasty, creamy, artistically appealing, and they always ask if you want whipped cream and syrup laced over the whipped cream in such a fancy manner. The atmosphere is quiet in the computer section, alive and popping on Open Mic nights, fun and Interactive in the games section, and peaceful and quiet in the book reading corner. It has everything and I believe it's the best coffee you can find all of Gainesville. They even have a drive-through and even through the drive-through you'll get a taste of the artistic culture that coffee called your hair when you reach the drive-through window you'll come to an array of toys and trinkets that people have placed on the brick surrounding window pane which really makes you feel like you're in a community where everyone has put a piece of their personality and it's very cute. If you live in Gainesville and haven't gone to Coffee Culture you must. It will be...
