The tall skinny server is a very disrespectful man. I am not sure of his name. He has offended me twice at this establishment and has no usense of respect.
I came to this restaurant twice with the same order of "hot" food with a different waiter and the food was great as well as the service. Indian Cuisine became my favorite restaurant in Gainesville. When I came the third time, I had the tall skinny server. I ordered the same "hot" curry and I eventually could not finish the plate. I took it home and eventually threw it away. I felt so cheated out of my money and out of potentially great food. The food was so spicy that the taste of the curry came after about 20 seconds of pure heat. I had a whole cup of water for every half spoonful of curry I took. There was about 5 small slices of pepper in ever half of a spoonful of the curry. I do not think food should be more spicier than it is tasty. When I told the tall and skinny server "I love spicy food, but the food is too spicy for me", he told me "well, next time you should order the mild" as a smirk spread across his face. I remember the first time that I came to the restaurant the nice waiter said "if the food is too spicy, I can have added something to it...". Fortunately, the food was perfect and had the right amount of kick. I was very pleased. That server was very warm and caring.
After months of proclaiming to not go back again, I finally gave in yesterday and had lunch with my friend since we both liked the establishment before that last incident. I was hoping I would have the nice server, but it was the tall, skinny server. In defeat, I ordered mild curry and his service went well. After the meal and taking our tips, the server paused taking our plates to lean close to me to ask "is that your real hair?" loudly and with his hand pointing at my hairline. I felt so embarrassed, harassed, and humiliated. I did not know how to react. I wish I asked to speak to his manager at both times. His conduct is improper and damaging to the image of this company. I will never go back again and will continue to let others know about this terrible server. People should not be treated this way. I do not spend my money to feel attacked and belittled for nothing, and not be offered accommodation that may be available. If you still go to this restaurant, I would advise you to avoid the tall, skinny server. Be blessed and...
Read moreI am updating my review of this please I have been coming here for about seven months now and I never really had a complain until recently when I went and I noticed that the flavor of the food has changed a bit but it wasn’t enough for me to complain about it. What made me complain was the fact that I got sick off the food I was eating the tandoori chicken. And I felt like it was very spicy and the chicken was a little cold. A few hours later I was in the bathroom and throwing up so I left a bad review. I was not going to go back to this restaurant, but because it’s the only Indian buffet around. I said, I’ll give it another chance.
The waiters all know me because I go every week, but not only do they know me they knew I left a review. They apologized and explained that they had a new employee, and there was a language barrier between the new employee and themselves.
He asked me how the food was today and I told him unfortunately it is still way too spicy and I was not the only one complaining about it. There were other customers there complaining but he made it right and he told me don’t worry about paying for this meal today I then said I wasn’t going to come back for a while then three weeks later I decided to go back and he asked me again. How is the food and I go a lot better. It still was missing that taste that I loved but it’s not as spicy, and it still edible.
I normally just come and get the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken and then I try a little bit of everything, although I love buffets, I’m a two plate person.
So I am raising my star rating to five stars because although it may be that it’s a new person cooking in the back, they are trying to do better and I don’t want my rating to make someone not want to come and try them out
Like I said, I’ve been coming here for over eight months and never had an issue until last month
Now, if only they can lower the price since I only really only eat two plates of mostly rice, and for chicken legs. So it’s always painful for me to pay over $19...
Read moreFirstly, to clear the air about me knowing what I am talking about, I am an Indian, living in the US for the past 7 years. I have eaten Indian food all my life.
I have tried this restaurant at least 3 times in the past 1 year. I have tried their buffet and their dinner on different occasions. I know that in places with a comparatively small number of Indian population, the restaurants tend to tone down their food, thinking that that's what the Americans want. For example, the food from an Indian restaurant in, say South Jersey of CA will taste really different than in Tallahassee or Gainesville. Probably makes better business sense for them. But the quality of food that this restaurant serves is simply sad.
Now about the Indian Cuisine. The food is fresh. More than required. It feels like they just threw the in the ingredients together, threw the hodge-podge mixture into the microwave and dumped it into the plate.
I wouldn't say that the food lacks flavor. You'll definitely taste the "curry"/"sauce" in your dish, but that's where it stops. The different ingredients in your plate seem to be fighting each other. They seem to use the same sauce for everything, but don't seem to cook the vegetables in that sauce. The result? A pool of a very strong flavored sauce surrounding a bland tasting vegetable. That is the kind of Indian food you would expect by a kid learning to cook for the first time, trying his hand out in his mom's kitchen; but this is definitely not the kind of food you would want to see in an...
