Waste of money. I know there are not a lot of pho options in Gainesville, but I really regret even giving this place a try. I am definitely not going back here, and I will not recommend this place to anyone I know.
Cleanliness Walking in the store, there's a strong smell of old oil and unclean kitchen. While waiting to be seated, I could see part of the kitchen, where Kitchen staffs were preparing to-go foods with bear hands.. Just overall, the kitchen, seating area, did not look very clean, and also the tables were a bit sticky.
Customer service The signs says 'wait here to be seated', but no one was there. I was standing at the door for 5 minutes, but when a waitress comes out form the back, she goes "Just seat wherever you want". I wonder why I had to wait there standing for 5 minutes. Also, the waitress would touch the food with her bare hands when she was bringing plates out saying something looks weird... In the COVID world especially, it was very unsanitary. Waitress would drop off the check 5 minutes after we started eating and goes 'no rush at all'. Given that I had just started eating, I did not put my card on the check. maybe 10 minutes later, waitress comes to my table again and pressures that I make the payment quickly..
Taste / price/ portion Very small portion for a $12 a bowl. And the noodles were cooked so long ago that I had to shake them for a while before I could even lift the noodles up. And the overall portion was so small. I got a beef pho, and I counted, there were 5 small pieces of sliced beef, and a little bit of noodles. There weren't that much of green onions either. But I guess the portion didn't matter after all because it tasted not so good (and unsanitary that I maybe had 20% of...
My (Hispanic) boyfriend and I have been regulars at this restaurant for the past three years up until tonight, when we had an unpleasant experience. As we opened the door, the tall white male at the counter very rudely yelled at us to get our masks and put them on or else we couldn't enter. We decided just to brush it off and get our money's worth and eat there for one last time anyway, considering we had driven a WHOLE HOUR away from another city JUST to go there!! When we came back in, we saw two blonde females at the counter being served without masks on and both didn't even have one in hand! There also were other customers entering the restaurant without masks behind us and he said nothing to them. Once he saw that I had noticed, he did everything he could not to even acknowledge us, speak a word to us, or make eye contact the rest of the time we were in there and a female waitress was being sent to "deal with us" so that he didn't have to. To make matters even worse, we could also see one of the staffs in the back kitchen from our booth not wearing a mask while working around the food. We were, and are still shocked by this and are definitely not coming back.
P.s. I had actually given this place a five-star rating before, recommending that everyone should come to this restaurant and I would also always speak so highly of it and recommend it to all of my friends for the past few years since I discovered it. I have made this place A LOT of extra money and this is how they show their gratitude. 🤷🏻♀️ It really would be better off taking your wallet elsewhere and learning to cook your pho at home to avoid this happening to...
Read more11/20/22 Mid sized dining room, restaurant and rest rooms clean and neat. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food, fresh ingredients, well prepared and seasoned. I can't address how authentic the recipes are except to say that they have all of the dishes I am accustomed to seeing on the menu of other Vietnamese places and those I tried were equal or better to my taste compared with the same dishes obtained elsewhere. Bun (vermicelli bowl), egg roll, spring roll, and dumplings all excellent. Rolls seem made to order, not frozen or pre-cooked. There are a few Asian fusion items on the menu including an excellent mildly spiced Thai curry. On my second visit they were not very busy and I asked to have the Bun slightly customized to my taste (more sprouts and less noodles, more mint) - this was done cheerfully and exactly as I asked. Homie don't like many vegetables, but the Bun gets me to eat some without complaint. Only partially joking when I say that their food helped cure my broken ribs. Generous portions and very appealing prices. Two entrees, two appetizers, hot tea about $35 Another reviewer mentions they reuse the uneaten food ... I saw nothing to indicate that was the case, and in any event they didn't reuse any of my food because there was...
