The Dime — Restaurant in Gainesville

I don't know whether both bartendees were having a bad/off day or what but I did not get an expeince like everyone else who has reviewed. I don't know if me and my friends looked too young and "preppy" so you say or what but these two bartenders where so rude. One of them, a women, would not let me and my friend come inside to get a drink after checking our ids outside as she sat and talked to her friend. She said the bar was too full. Keep in mind we came around 30 minutes before happy hour ending. There were about 8 people inside. Later did I find out she just didn't want us in because the bartender was backed up....with 8 people and mostly all of them had drinks right in from of them. Maybe instead of chatting she could have been helping make drinks or getting order idk make yourself useful. After waiting 10 minutes for them to "clear" aka no one left or anything hahaha. Our friends who were already here for an hour said go inside and get one, and say whatever to girl. So we persisted to go inside, after waking in and receiving one of the worst death glare ever, we went to the bar. The other male bartender was clearly stressed and moody...idk why (Glad he doesn't work anywhere actually remotely busy, and I've actually seen this place poppin off before so don't know why his panties were in a wad) we then ask for a drink menu because neither of us have ever been to their happy hour. I order my drink. He again asks me for my Id after it was checked by the death glare girl previously but props to being on top of it I guess and then goes to make my drink. My friend handed her I'd, which she just got a new one and is a year older than I. He says your is is expired. We both look at it and let alone it expired the day before.......lollllll. She and I both had no idea and figuring she just bought a new one we didn't think this problem would arise for a while. It is a landscape I'd meaning that she is over 21 and he yelled at her to get out of the bar. Literally yelled like embarrassingly. I didn't even want to my drink anymore at this point. I understand him not serving her drinks because of the law but to scream like he did was totally unreasonable and like I said embarrassing. The drink was okay nothing I was super crazy about having. But based on the treatment of service I don't want to ever come back. Better drinks and service all around downtown Gainesville. Maybe next time I come here I might have to be a couple drinks in to be able to ignore the attorcious attitudes of...

Had great experiences previously, but tonight the bartender was visibly stressed after we ordered and was throwing things around like he was having a rough night....understandable. I was considering buying him and myself a shot of his choice because of his stressed attitude, but right before doing so, some of his buds walk in and he starts complaining to them about how busy he was and how people were asking him to take shots with him (clearly they saw his stresses like I did) but he was pissed about those offers, stating he "would have to clean more glasses" during his rush and was offended (I get it), but immediately lines up 5 shots next to us and takes one with his friends and starts laughing! Meanwhile, my girlfriend and I were sitting there being ignored during our stay, even when I politely stated my drink was great, and asked what he made (I asked to make anything with rye highlighting the beverage as he previously was excited to make a favorite when I requested something similar in the past). This was all after his "rush" when we ordered, and after he relaxed there was never an apology or a thank you for the tip. I am clearly offended by his immature professionalism tonight... It's not like we haven't been served by him several...

Went to this bar last night with two girl friends just for one drink. I’m not sure if the bartender (brown haired male with a long ponytail) was having a bad day, but he’s was so rude/extremely condescending to all three of us. Started when one of my friends ordered a G&T and then asked to close her tab - which he responded with a rude remark. He made an additional remark when myself and my other girl friend closed our tab as well. Last thing he did was snap at my friend when she tried to move a barstool so we could all sit at a table together. I was shocked with how hostile he was since we had just arrived and had never spoken to him before/ever came to this bar before. I will not be returning and do not recommend this bar to anyone who is just stopping in for a quick drink. Although the G&T we got was very good, the bartender really ruined the mood and our first experience here. I hope no one else had to deal with his...
