Mayan Monkey Brewing Co. — Restaurant in Gaithersburg

I'm very excited to go back and see what other brews they come up with as time passes. The staff was friendly. I only had the chilango burger and fries for food because I was craving a burger more than tacos. The burger was delicious! I asked for something to spice it up and I was given a spicy smokey salsa that paired beautifully with the sweetness of the burger.

My brother has Celiac and is always looking for a date night spot with his wife so for future reference I asked a staff member if the tortillas are just corn or if it's mixed with flour and they let me know it's just corn which is fantastic to know. They make a lot in house which I really appreciate.

For drinks I had three: The Mayanhattan was smooth, not too sweet and balanced with the bitters.

The El Mateo is a very hazy IPA. This isn't too juicy in my opinion and the flavor reminds me of grapefruit. I love a hazy that isn't filtered and this one is not transparent at all.

Lastly I had the Block Party which is an American style lager and this was very dark and not transparent, once again I love that in a beer. Very malty taste but not heavy....

They were still brewing and prepping their own beers when I went, but they had a selection of 6 mass markets ranging from Modelo to Guiness.

Service early afternoon on a Friday was great, no notes to add on that.

The atmosphere was well appointed. Bar area was plentiful with good open access to a separated dining area. Looked new, and regularly cleaned and care for.

Food was top-notch!

Tortilla chips are homemade, mildly seasoned, not overly salty, thick and hot out of the kitchen!

Guacamole was too acidic from my experience, and a bit on the plain side- but executed well and presented beautifully.

Squash tacos were "F'ing Great"! Flavorful, bit of tooth, but not undercooked, and well garnished. Salsa Verde was silky with a garlic hint, but could have benefited from a little more heat. They come overstuffed! So get the chips to pick it all up after.

Can't wait to come back for the beer!

For the company- the people crave Huitlacoche! Having squash as an option was nice, but vegetarian options for tacos are so rare... give...

Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. My husband and I went on a Saturday when they had a live band, which seems like they have every evening on Fridays and Saturdays, and the music was fantastic.

Food and drinks were delicious. We shared two meals. We had the bourbon bacon burger with fries, and they were cooked to perfection. Hands down, THE best burger we have had. We also had the nachos, which were also delicious and came in a HUGE portion. The blackberry mojitos with fresh blackberries and mint were perfectly balanced, not too strong not too sweet.

My husband inquired about the brewery and we were told that they should be up and running shortly, which my husband is looking forward to trying. We are planning our next trip back relatively soon.

There is parking behind the restaurant on the lot and the parking garage.

We definitely recommend this as your next spot to try especially on...
