Owners daughter told me what kind of tamales they had today. “ I said I don’t like pork so I’ll take for corn and for chicken”, got home and found four pork and four chicken tamales. I was told after I called that she was sure I ordered pork to which I said we don’t eat pork. Went back to the store and the daughter was not around. The owner, sitting in chair and angry looking, said that his daughter is American and speaks English. Though I tried to repeat exactly how I made my order for the tamales he kept interrupting me and said that I was wrong. Opened the tamales at home because we were not familiar with a string around the tamale. Owner said “the kid should not be the one to open the tamales”. So I guess 12 yr old kids are never to Be excited about getting their corn tamales. Owner was extremely rude saying that corn tamales aren’t wrapped in foil. My daughter spoke up and said we didn’t remember that because we don’t come here every week. Imagine a child seeing the owner dismiss my daughter’s comments. We left in shock at such rude treatment. The daughter didn’t fill my tamale order correctly and we felt the wrath of god (the owner) for it. Feel sorry for the owner and daughter who don’t have the character to own up to their mistakes. Mistake that wasn’t the end of...
Read moreI visited GuateBakery and the customer service is terrible. It's even worst coming from the owner, a fat old man with mustache he is rude and disrespectful, the place is dirty and there is mosquitoes around this bakery the floor is also dirty. I also notice that when the cashier (bakery owner at that time) was serving his customers he was grabbing the bread with his bare hands while touching money from the cash register, that's never a good practice especially at a bakery because of sanitary reasons and because the transfer of germs to our bread. I will not visit this place again and I will not recommend my friends and family to visit this dirty bakery. Its a shame how small business Owner are wondering why they are losing their businesses to the competition, because of disrespectuf behaviors lack of professionalism and not following the county's recommendations to keep their business clean. Customers service should always be any business their number one priority If they dont see it that way then the city of Gaithersburg is not the place for you.
Read moreDiscovered GuateBakery on the map when planning a bike trip through Gaithersburg. Had to check it out. Prices are low so I had to get quite a bit to meet their credit card minimum. Everything was clearly freshly prepared and tasted great. I would definitely plan to go back if I pass through Gaithersburg again. The chile rellenos was very different than the Mexican item of the same name was excellent. There was a different name for what would be a concha in a Mexican panaderia, but it was very good, with a light airy bread. Got 5 different cookies which I brought home and enjoyed thru the afternoon, evening and next morning. Definitely recommend...
