Guacamole Grill — Restaurant in Galesburg

We had a bad experience at Guacemole Grill this past week that I wanted to share as I’ve heard I’m not the only one that has had this issue. We put in an online order a couple days ago. The order went through and our credit card was charged. We went to pick the order up 45 minutes later only to find out that they were closed that night (listed as being open online and online ordering was still open). I called the next day to get a refund and was told a manager would call back to help with the refund. I did this twice and didn’t get anywhere. I called again today and was told they couldn’t give me a refund and would only issue a gift card. I said I would come in to the store to do a cash refund and was told they don’t have cash at the restaurant. You don’t have cash at the restaurant?!? Not a big fan of being lied to.

They wouldn’t send the gift card in the mail and said I had to come back to the restaurant to pick it up. The least they could do after all this is take 5 minutes out of your day and mail it to us Instead I had to waste another 30 minutes driving there to get a gift card. This was a huge waste of time. Luckily Galesburg has a lot of other great options for Mexican food. If you a going to order pick up I would not do the online option as you are going to lose your money and your time if...

We visit family in the Galesburg area a few times a year. We had been looking for a good place in Galesburg during the times we are visiting, and we found it here.

My wife has a very discerning taste for Mexican food, as she used to live in southern California. While the food is probably not as "authentic" as she is used to, she still liked it. And everyone else thought it was great. The portions were very large.

My daughter also has a very unique "order" when we go to Mexican restaurants, and they were able to accommodate her request. It was made incorrectly the first time it was brought out, but they fixed it right away and brought out the corrected order.

The place is clean and and has a nice atmosphere on the inside, with nice big booths and sturdy wooden chairs. Most Mexican restaurants lack a good atmosphere, so we were pleasantly surprised by the good atmosphere here.

The “manager” hung up on me twice, laughed at me, and refused to forward my complaint because they left food out of our takeout order AGAIN! There have been several times that we have ordered takeout here. They often leave out part of our order. We have gotten to the point that we have to take everything out in the car to check it, which is inconvenient and very messy. Tonight we had that issue and were treated so rudely by the manager. When I complained that the salad I ordered was left out again, he hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager, owner, etc. He refused to put me in touch with the owner or have the owner call me.
