This place doesn't have the main staple in Vietnamese food. No Pho ga. That's pretty pathetic. This town has something that sucks every time we pass through here.
Pho Ga, or Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup, is a traditional dish originating from Northern Vietnam, particularly from Hanoi. It is a cousin to the more well-known beef pho (pho bo) and is believed to have originated in Hanoi. The dish consists of soft, slippery pho noodles, sliced or shredded chicken meat, and a light, fragrant broth.
Pho Ga is made by simmering chicken pieces with spices such as cassia bark, star anise, coriander seeds, and black cardamom to create a flavorful broth. Garnishes typically include fresh herbs like Thai basil, cilantro, and green onions, along with bean sprouts, lime, and chili slices. The broth is often seasoned with fish sauce and sometimes hoisin sauce for added depth of flavor.
Chicken pho gained popularity over the years and is now widely enjoyed throughout Vietnam and internationally. It is considered a healthier option compared to beef pho, being a great source of protein and known for reducing inflammation and improving joint health.
Pho Ga is not only a culinary delight but also a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Vietnam, reflecting the country's history and...
Read moreReally happy to update this review as almost everything has greatly improved. Been several more times and service & time to get food has been excellent 👍. Growing pains all seem to be smoothed out. Full recommendation!
Original review:
Been 3 times since opening.
The good: The food is really good. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Obviously this is the most important thing!
The bad: Only 1 size of pho available - small. Most expensive small bowl of pho I’ve ever encountered. Skimpy on garnishes and it kind of feels like you get nickeled & dimed (there’s an extra charge if you want sweet & sour sauce with your eggrolls?) Service has ranged from mediocre to poor (long waits, food sitting out for minutes before being brought to tables, forgotten items that take another 5+ minutes to receive, etc). Seem to run out of menu items very quickly.
As I said, the food is genuinely great but everything else adds up to an experience that has been kind of awkward. I’m hoping that they get it together, because I would like to eat here weekly… but as it is, maybe every month or two, and probably take out. It’s very expensive for pho and for Gallup, so the service, portions and general atmosphere should...
Read moreThe overall experience was definitely... weird. I did not enjoy it. The staff were friendly but took a long time giving us our food along with checking up on us. The decor of the place is pretty bad it could use better wall colors. Not to mention, there were these men that sat next to us and were constantly making comments about me and my sisters. The food was..ehh, it could've been better. Of course, I'm no Vietnamese expert on their culture and food, but definitely, I wouldn't even serve the food to my pigs. The meat seemed mysterious it was circular, and it looked like something you could easily just warm up that was processed and add into a bowl of soup or, in this case, Pho, it could've been better if the cilantro didn't overpower the entire taste of it. The noodles were good, but there was too much onion, which really threw me off. The only thing I enjoyed was their Boba Tea/Milk Tea/Bubble tea, whatever you want to call it. In overall conclusion, the food is absolutely diabolical, service sucks, atmosphere is weird and uncomfortable. Words CANNOT explain how repulsed I am by...
