I was pretty excited about stopping here. We would pickup goodies here when I was a kid. Storytime.. hahaha When I was a kid we would go visit my grandma in Alice Tx.. The Water.. Tasted Different than the water in Houston TX. To my Grandma.. the water tasted normal. To the folks in Galveston.. Im sure this place taste normal.
But to someone that is hasnt been here. We will notice there is an old smell to these bakery items. As soon as I opened the bag.. I could smell.. the oven.. pans are old and that smell is part of the cookies. I was so looking forward to eating the Pecan Powered Sugar Cookies. The oatmeal cookie I could eat. I paid $10.00 for the cookies. The person working was quick to get my stuff together.. she seemed rushed to get me out. short and to the point. ha haha The place is nice.. Congrats to them for staying opened for so long. Thats a great accomplishment! I recommend they clean their pans and oven.. easier.. buy new stuff ha ha ha I.ll try it again.. if that happens. Im very sorry this isnt a positive post. I was really looking forward to a good tasting old cookie.. but not like that old tasting hahahaha I Will ALWAYS LOVE AND Appreciate what yall do and give to Galveston and yall will always hold a special stop...

I settled on a simple skull shape with simple details in black and neon green. She then told me she would make a square cake and cut out the skull shape and it would be $45 for a single layer and $65 for a double. I ordered the single layer and paid in advance. I picked it up this morning, the day of his birthday and I am so disappointed. It isn't even skull shaped and looks nothing like the picture I was shown. Poorly decorated. It was covered in fondant that was like chewing on playdoh and the cake was dry. Very...
Read moreGrowing up my mom would always order tamales from Texas Star for Christmas eve. I remember them always being so good.
It had probably been 15 years when we were on the island today and decided to stop by and see if we could get some tamales. We ordered a dozen and I was excited to try them again.
We took the super long way home to Baytown and road the ferry over to Bolivar. The tamales were still hot over 2.5 hours later when we got home. They were also just as delicious as I had hoped they still would be. The masa was so moist and flavorful and the pork was tender and tasty. Def my favorite tamales and will have to go back every now and then...
