La Taqueria — Restaurant in Garden City

I'm really torn here. The interior is still set up like it was with Clean Eatz, so it's open and welcoming. The service it good but nothing to write home about. The food is delicious BUT very over priced for the small portion. We went on Taco Tuesday when tacos were supposed to be $2.50. My wife order the shrimp taco BUT they told her that the shrimp taco was too costly to sell at $2.50. What's the point of taco Tues.? These aren't normal tacos, they are over priced street tacos. I had a shrimp burrito. Again, the taste was fantastic BUT it wasn't worth $11. THEN comes the "fees" that are charged. Three tacos and a burrito cost an extra $3.90. SO, that adds almost another $1 to each item. So to sum this up. GREAT OVERPRICED FOOD. You try to support small businesses but they charge you an arm and a leg. It will be six months or longer before I think about going back. Not really...

This place is legit. Fresh, fresh, fresh. They make everything to order...tortillas, chips and salsa, everything. If you want “fast food Mexican” where you sit down and they bring you chips and salsa in :30 secs and you order and 5 mins later, they bring your order on a hot plate...this place isn’t for you. Please go somewhere else. Gems like El Quetzal are reserved for people who APPRECIATE fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine. Thank god we have a place like this at the beach for us locals. And to the dude complaining about his shrimp burrito being $11...it’s shrimp. Good seafood ain’t cheap, and cheap seafood ain’t good. Be an adult and have some common sense. I see that Paul love Bubba’s (fast food seafood) and hates Neal & Pam’s (literally the best bar in Surfside)...so his poor review makes all the sense in the world now. ...

YUMMY! We were going to hit a local taco truck but my Sis really wanted salsa so we decided to give this place a try, they did not disappoint!!! I got the steak nachos which were incredibly fresh and delicious, my sis got the shredded burrito and it was absolutely amazing! They grilled the outside shell of it to a slightly crunchy texture which just took the flavor to the next level. My nephew got the ground beef quesadillas and rice... Superb! The meat had a nice grilled charcoal flavor to it even though it was ground beef, so good! The homemade salsa was super fresh but my advice is to add a little bit of the saucy Verde and then just a touch of the Chipotle hot sauce to it, made it perfect!!!
