We usually eat at Carolina Tavern every month or two when we’re looking for something different from our usual local hangouts. It seems the last few times we’ve been that the service tends to get a little worse each time. Why we continue to keep returning is beyond me. Tonight seemed to be going good the first five minutes or so. We got our drinks pretty quickly and our order was taken really fast as well. I ordered the salad bar as my 2nd side item and finally had to go ask for a salad bowl after our server never returned. I retrieved my own silverware for the table, as that was never brought as promised either. Finally after a very long wait, and listening to another table complain about the hour spent waiting for their food, our food finally arrived, or some of it at least, delivered by another server. Our server never once came to check to see if we needed anything, or to see that my husband never received his meal, that my side was missing, or that my son was out of water. Nothing, never saw her. She was completely mia for 7-8 minutes and then when she resurfaced, she spent her time hugging one of the patrons at the bar. The only 2 tables she appeared to have were the two that waited forever for food. Then a manager came over and did apologize and said she would do what she could to discount our meal. She then added that the owner was on site and that she would try to talk to him but “he really doesn’t like to hear me complain” 🤦🏻♀️ The owner never came by to discuss anything and she returned with our check, and our meal being discounted $12. I appreciate the discount and never asked for that. I would have rather had the owner at least come by to talk to us. We will now knock this one off of our list to ever give another chance. The owner doesn’t care enough to even give you 5 minutes...
Read moreRustic tavern and eatery serving hand-pattied tavern burgers, hand-cut fries, slow cooked, tender ribs and wings with bold flavors. A simple salad bar of mixed greens and all the fixings available for a single serving or all you can eat. Looking for a quiet lunch without reservations on this Easter Sunday got us stopping in just as their doors opened. Place remained quiet during the duration we were there and food came quickly. My wife made a single trip through the salad bar and was pleased with the fresh array of greens, vegetables and various toppings. My order was first the appetizer Tavern Loaded Fries with their own hand-cut fries with cheddar and Jack cheese melted on top with a smattering of bacon bits. Fries were not real crisp, but came with quantity and flavor. Next was an order of boneless wings and after a suggestion of sauces settled on the honey barbecue and Sweet Red chili sauce. Loved the simple, sweet taste of the honey barbecue and the slight heated after burn of the Sweet Red chili sauce. A side of ranch dressing and celery to help soothe the slight zing to the taste buds came with it. Wings were nicely breaded and of reasonable size. Service was friendly and helpful. Typical bar setting with wood booths, high and low tables with padded chairs and an extended bar running nearly the length of the room. Outside seating was available on an enclosed patio. Being that the place had just opened was surprised to find the bathrooms needed a...
Read moreyou can see by my below (4*) post this has always been my go to spot for wings. I've got to say the quality has gone downhill though. the last few times I've ordered from there the wings are very rubbery. I wouldn't say they are under cooked as the center isnt pink. they just used to have a crunch/crisp (almost kind of dryness) to them. I LOVE some wings and rubbery is a huge turn off for me. I guess it's more of a preference than a perfection. I just miss the old ones. anyway. other options around and unfortunately I'll probably be changing the location to Fat Jack's (Surfside Beach) Service still great here (Carolina Tavern) though. they still have an amazing selection...and like I said... this may just be my preference and not others. ............_..................... bring the family here, and come here with buddies to watch football. All I ever eat is the wings, but they are amazing. I'm a wing lover and this is the best in myrtle beach (Fat Jacks pretty good too, but I think Carolina Roadhouse is better). Fire BBQ, Tavern Beer Rub, ..man, so many good choices. The menu has so much more than wings, but I've honestly never tried anything else. Staff very nice. Always the same experience...and this is why we keep...
