No flashing lights. No huge signs. Located along US17 on the NB side of the road near Surfside Beach. 1st time visitors who will certainly be back.
While looking for a place for our 5 member team of food warriors to eat, my wife/navigator found this place and read some promising reviews so we headed on over.
Parking is at a premium as Southside Grill is located in a small strip mall between the Golden Egg and Fat Jacks. Inside there are roughly 8 booths and 4 freestanding tables. As we made it to the door a couple was leaving and my wife asked if the food was good. Best food on the beach. We've been coming here for 20 years was the reply.
Well said citizen. Well said. The fish sandwich is HUGE with 2 lightly hand breaded pieces of whitefish, the salads were HUGE and the Crab cakes were delicious!
Party of 5, all had water, I added a $10 crab cake and a side to try and with tip, tags title and transfer we were out the door for $103 including tip.
Small family run business. Only open Wednesday thru Saturday evenings so plan accordingly if you are in the...
Read moreThe atmosphere was awesome. I won't say everyone knows your name, because we have only been once, but the staff, the other customers, everyone was so friendly, just like most people in Pittsburgh are. We walked out feeling like we had just had dinner with close friends. The décor was Pittsburgh, on steroids, LOL (it's all good). The menu was Pittsburgh meets the coast. My wife and I started with some perogies, very good, it has been years since we have had them. Then we both had burgers, both cooked to our liking, hers medium well, mine medium rare. Then they asked about dessert, which my wife came off with our standard, oh we are too full, but I had seen a sign out front, and one inside that said they made fresh pies daily, so when the next person stopped by our table to ask, I stopped my wife, and we were both glad I did. The cheese cake and carrot cake are to die for. We were full, so we took most of it home. The server brought them out in to go containers, but she brought forks too so we could taste them there. We will most...
Read moreI was extremely dissapointed about this place and don't understand the hype. At first I thought the tiny menu was the biggest problem. I had a really hard time choosing a dish because the options were so limited. A few appetizers, a couple of salads, some burger variations, and fried chicken and that pretty much sums up the menu. No alcoholic beverages of any kind, only soda. After I got my food, I realized that the small menu wasn't the only problem. The potato skins were okay, but nothing special. The burger wasn't great and I felt pretty yucky after I was done eating eat. I could not eat the fries at all. They tasted like stinky feed. Maybe they never change the frying oil? Overall, the food was pretty bad. The service was okay but not great by any means. I am shocked about all the good reviews here. Maybe I went to the wrong place? 🤔 I also think it's a really bad idea to display political statements in your business. That can turn away many people who disagree with...
