Mellow Mushroom Murrells Inlet — Restaurant in Garden City

It was just me and my boyfriend. We called at 730ish pm to see what the wait was and heard 30 minutes in the background, but was told no wait, and that they close at 830pm. We said great and we'll be there in 15 minutes. When we got there at 742pm we were told they close in 10 minutes but can still eat if we'd like. When I told the host I just called and was told they closed at 830, she said, "I heard her say that". My thought was that she should've corrected her and told us that we close at 8, and we would've picked somewhere else to eat. Once sat, Lawrence was our server. He looked and acted reluctant to serve us. I've been a waitress and have worked in food service and understand people coming in the last hour is annoying, but that doesn't mean you can't have good customer service. We quickly got our drinks and food ordered. Once our food came out, we never saw Lawrence again. Never checked in, never asked for refills when both our drinks were empty, nothing. We rushed to finish our food because the atmosphere made us feel like we needed to rush out of there. Only after trying to make eye contact with Lawrence would he come over so we could get a box and our check so we could leave. He got us our things and we paid, and left. Pizza was good, but the experience made us not never want...

If I could give them 0 stars I would! It was our last night on our vacation with our family we had plans to go to the mellow mushroom and then play putt putt golf with the kids after dinner. We arrived around 5:30. We had a table of 15 people. It took about 15 mins just to get drinks which we should have known that was a red flag, finally get the salad well one of the salads we ordered but no dressing, asked for dressing never received it so never ate the salad, still waiting for the other salad and a beer we asked for in the beginning. It's about 6:30 and some of the tables meatballs arrive we think hey pizza should be out soon , nope they completely finish there meatballs and were still waiting mind you my kids are starving!!!! 7:30 still no food! 2hrs and were still waiting for food , I finally ask the server if they can bring the kids food out so they can eat and she tells me they still haven't put our food in the oven! We asked to pay for what we had and left! We ended up ordering pizza from hungry howie's got the pizza in 10 min and they felt sorry for our experience with this place they even gave us free brownies! If you want to wait all night and ruin your plans eat at this place! Our kids never went to play golf or eat dinner...

A stack of issues with this place.

First, Google states they are open until 9pm. (the hours were updated 6 days ago at the time of this review) We walked in at 815, were greeted by a host, sat, and our drink orders taken. 3 minutes later someone came from the back, told us the host was new and they actually closed at 8pm and all the ovens were off. (WHY WAS THE DOOR UNLOCKED THEN???) Pretty sure they were just lying to us so they could leave early.

Second, during that 3 mins we had to look at the menu we noticed a glaring difference from the statements online that they had a "great selection of vegetarian items" and the reality on the menu. Just offering salads, appetizers, and your normal menu items "sans-meat" is not a "great selection". There wasnt even an option listed on the menu for a veggie patty on the burger options.

Third, the very first thing you see when you walk in is a DISGUSTING fish tank. It is literally so dirty that you can barely see the poor fish in it. It is CAKED with alge. It can't have been cleaned in the last 6 months.
