O'Keefe's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Garden City

I have been going to this place for a long time. If you are looking for a small retired crowd who visits the bar every day to gossip up among each other then this is your place. They allow smoking inside the bar- cigars and cigarettes and they sell cigars. Honestly this place is a HUGE dive but the people are friendly and welcoming for the most part and it is moderately clean, (at least the restrooms and the tops of the tables are). They do participate in Irish fest and have a big bash to sell corn beef and cabbage each year. Tonya and Rick recently left the business to their children and now just frequent every day to keep in contact with the regulars. It’s kinda like being in the “Cheers” company. They have a good menu and Leon it was been the cook there for quite some time does a significant job with the small stuff they offer, they have daily lunch specials usually but the pub food is not fancy...

Very bad first experience. I ordered through Grubhub the hamburger steak plate with mashed potatoes and gravy ( which I was totally craving!) and ended up getting fries instead of mashed potatoes. Beyond that, the hamburger steak was horrible. It was tough, hardly any taste, the onions were barely cooked down and the gravy… oh the gravy was awful! At least the fries, which I didn’t want, were good. My husband got the fish and chips. The fish looked and tasted like something from a bag in the frozen food section at the grocery store. This place was ideal for the first game of football this year! They have tvs everywhere. Especially by the pool tables! It was spacious and didnt feel like anyone was too close to each other. The wings were really crispy and no breading which is how I like them but the sauces were a little disappointing, the hot was a good wings sauce out of all the ones we tried.
