Sweet Stacks — Restaurant in Garden City

I’ve tried the place several times now. The first time I hit gold. The service was pretty fast (at least ordering), I lucked upon my favorite dessert the first try, and those mini pancakes had crispy edges (so good). I ordered Berrylicious with strawberry. The strawberries were great (they weren’t all hard and white), the sweet cream cheese filling…I can hardly type it without drooling, and the strawberry sauce just went so well together. We waited a while to get the desserts after ordering though. My friend had a broken chair too. Almost fell on her butt. Next time, I went in again and waited about 10 minutes to order and there was only 1 person ahead of me. The two employees I saw were all over the place. It seemed chaotic. I do understand they are taking phone orders and delivery orders as well. I accounted for that. I was there about 45 mins before I received my dessert. This time the pancakes were kind of chewy (seemed older) and not warm (not what I expected after waiting that long). The next time I decided to call the order in to pick up instead of waiting so long inside. Nobody answered the phone. It didn’t even ring…it just didn’t go through. I decided to go up there and order. I was told they had turned the phones off because they were so busy. They were still taking delivery orders though. I was a bit offended by that because the people that physically go inside and those calling in orders that will go inside, should be prioritized over delivery services. I understand some people cannot physically go to a store for a multitude of reasons, but in my old school mind…face-to-face business is of greater value. IMHO, I would’ve paused DoorDash and Grub Hub before shutting off my phones (another reason is because I think the business pays a fee on those orders). Anyway, this time I again waited quite a while to order and to receive my order. Maybe around 30 mins. The next time I walked out due to the wait to even place my order and others did the same. I’ve tried the classic Nutella, Chunky Monkey, and Berrylicious with raspberry. I didn’t care for the Nutella or Chunky Money. I’ve been told Nutella is their most popular. Guess I’m just not a fan.

Desserts are great…even if I didn’t care for various flavors I tried (just my taste preference). The place is a bit beat up and seems like it needs some TLC. The employees are always very nice and welcoming. I will return, but at some point the long wait times will likely stop me from returning. I think the process just needs some fine tuning.

We came in because our regular was closed. I'm so happy we did! My husband said "in 30 years of me existing, this is the happiest I've ever been about chocolate" the pictures really do speak for themselves! The sweet lady running the place is "all hands on deck" she runs the front, makes sure the customer is happy, and makes the desert! There is less than a 4 minute wait time for desert to be made. The shop is extremely well kept 👌 👏 surrounding desert shops would have charged us atleast double for what else orders, and for a smaller quantity. It tastes amazing, looks amazing and smells amazing. My new go to desert shop! If you are anywhere in the surrounding areas... give this place a try! Huge menu, customization is available, you will not regret it. I can't get over how welcoming and humble this business is! She even bid us goodbye with a desert on the house! Sweet Stacks is the place to go! The pancakes were out of this world—light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. The ice cream was the perfect complement, creamy and absolutely delicious. We tried a variety of flavors, and each one was better than the last.

The ambiance of the place was cozy and inviting, with charming decor and a warm atmosphere that made it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was exceptional, with a special shoutout to Ahmed. He made sure we were well taken care of, checking in frequently to ensure everything was perfect. Ahmed brought out our dessert in no time, and it was hot and delectable. His friendly and efficient service really stood out and made our experience even more enjoyable.
