Food: The quality of the food is amazing in this deli. They offer sandwiches with mayo or mustard, or you can do a vinaigrette sauce which I love. This makes it easy to feed our kids as well since vinagar is a bit potent for their palettes. Their meats are sliced fresh with every order and it is boards head ( I had never heard of this brand until I came here and now I don't want any other kind). Their bread is devine made fresh in house, though I prefer it when it is crispy and fresh out of the oven. It's a rare special treat when I can get it like that. Customers liked the bread softer. So they began serving it that way to appease the majority. Which is a great sign since they have proven that they care and listen to their customers. Now, I am not saying they will serve you crisp bread upon request because they won't. Not because they don't want to but it would require them to make a whole batch of bread from scratch again and that takes time. Time you nor they have during business hours. (They make their bread fresh in the mornings). They also serve other foods like lasagna. The cookies are delicious. I think the owner said they came from New York as well. Owners: The few encounters I have had were buisness orientated with a side of hospitality. I can admire this tactic. After we were serviced it became a casual conversation. The owners work very well together. They have stream lined their process and it takes no more than 7 - 10 mins for them to make 4 one foot long Sandwhiches. Atmosphere: Stuff is everywhere, but in a comforting way. It is clean and it doesn't block walkways. They have a variety of drinks among 2 or 3 coolers and a soda fountain. There is a air of Welcome but it's not an open ended invitation. Seating is available but limited. A majority of customers take their meals to go. Overall: The food is very much worth the price. The service is ideal and consistant....
Read moreNot many real Italian-style sandwich shops in Boise. And, no, Jimmy John's across the street doesn't count. I used to live in Boston, and worked in Philly and NYC, so I know a good sub. This place is good. But a WARNING!! They have what many in Boise jokingly refer to as "the cheese upgrade". It's not a hard sell, it's literally a soft sell (pun intended). Here's what happens. The menu has no prices. This is basic psychology 101. You're not going to cancel your order at the counter. After ordering your delicious sandwich, and believe me - it will be deeeelicious - you may be asked if you'd like "such and such cheese". It'll be a hard-to-pronounce Italian sounding cheese, and they'll say it really takes your order up a notch or three. The cheese soft sell is worded as if your order comes with it, and you have the option to delete cheese. You say "yeah, let's do it". When you go to pay it's sticker shock and they explain the cheese was special and extra (because psychology 101 = you're too embarrassed to begin with asking "how much" on a busy menu with people in line). The other reviews about bad customer service...I attribute it to the employees' gruff Italian demeanor which is actually quite lovable. Plus they're busy and probably tired of working customer service so when someone has an issue the owner/employee goes a little Raging Bull. Everyone I speak to who goes there - and many do because there's nothing else in the area quite like it - laughs when asked "did you add the $5 slice of cheese?" The $5 slice of cheese is an exaggeration, but there's no denying the workers at Uncle Giuseppes know how to maximize profits. Go. Eat. Enjoy. Just be prepared to know exactly what you're adding...
Read moreI love this place! When they first opened I was driving by their shop every single day for work. I eventually stopped in to give it a whirl. I started with the #1 and LOVED it...the next day I stopped in and got a #2. Just as amazing as the first. This is %100 true and they can verify it, I then went in every single day and just kept going through the menu. I made it all the way to #19 when my work schedule changed. I had made enough small talk with them that they knew I was employed at Sprint at the time. 4 or 5 days past that I didnt go in for the next sandwich. I thought about them each day but couldnt get out there......One day I am working at the Sprint store when I see a car pull up and look through the window. When he spotted me he smiled and came in. "Hey Buddy, are you ok"!? I swear to God this is true. I told him about my schedule change and asked him how I could help him with his phone. "No, I dont need anything Bud, we just wanted to make sure you were ok....I have #20 for you"......I was blown away and felt terrible because I had no money with me. "Dont even sweat it Bud" they gave me a footlong #20 for free and checked on my well being. Believe this or not I swear it to be true and will ALWAY support Uncle Guisseppes. These guys are sandwich wizards and also amazing people! I urge you to reward yourself and get what I believe to be the best sandwiches in the state! Keep up...
