My go to spot for Chinese and Vietnamese comfort food in OC! I've been coming here since I was little with my family and I've been coming here ever since 20 years later.
My favorite items are the House Special Lobster with noodles, Shaken Beef Bo Luc lac, House Special Fish Filet, Clams in Mint Sauce!!, Canh Chua Vietnamese hot & sour soup, crab meat fish maw soup of course, and a few others I didn't order this time since it was just me and one friend. But I also highly recommend the House Special Shrimp, salt and pepper pork chops, Peking pork chops, ong choy, pea sprouts, and green beans if you need some veggie dishes. They also have a good selection of tofu dishes to pick from if you're looking for vegetarian options. I'm a tofu lover so that makes me very happy :)
The service here is always amazing! The ladies at the front are always very welcoming and warm. It reminds me of my aunties lol so that's nice.
Drinks: Taro Latte - a new drink item!! Ugh so goood. I would get this before work if they were open early enough it's the perfect balance between taro and Vietnamese coffee. GET IT
Food is always up to par. The Bo luc lac is always cooked perfectly and tender with lemon & salt dipping sauce on the side, yum. Clams in mint sauce is one of my must orders. I loveeee clams and these are always fresh. The House Special fish filet and House Special shrimp is also always consistently on point. They are perfectly battered and so buttery. I love eating these with rice. I always order one or the other whenever I come. If I come with a big group then I get both The size of the fish filet is FAT too. I could barely eat a few pieces since the pieces were so huge so that's definitely a plus.
Soups: canh chua and crab meat fish maw soup. They are staple comfort foods in my book!
I'm a long time returning customer and I'm glad to know that the quality and taste of the food has always been delicious and consistent. If you want authentic Chinese Vietnamese food then this is the place. Locals...
Read moreToday, my family, friends, and I dined at Capital Seafood. While I’m giving this restaurant three stars, there were both highlights and issues that future diners may want to consider. First, the restaurant was very crowded, and although we made special reservations in advance, the staff was not professionally prepared to accommodate our group. There was simply not enough room to seat all of us together, which was disappointing. On a more positive note, the food was delicious. All dishes—including the appetizers and side plates—were served warm and well-prepared. The flavors were fresh, and overall, we truly enjoyed the meal. However, the experience took an unfortunate turn when it came time to pay. Every card we attempted to use, both debit and credit, was declined. We were told it was likely due to being out-of-area customers, which required us to contact our bank immediately. Despite our efforts, the bank was unable to process or recover the payment due to the high cost of the bill. Now, to be transparent—it was embarrassing. We did everything right on our end, and still found ourselves in a situation where our cards wouldn’t work. This should never happen in 2025, especially at an established restaurant that caters to large groups and visitors. Thankfully, the restaurant was understanding and let us go without incident, acknowledging that we weren’t from the area and had made a genuine attempt to settle the bill. Final thoughts for those reading this: If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend calling in advance to confirm seating arrangements, especially for large parties. And just in case, make sure your payment methods are verified for out-of-town use or bring a backup. The food is worth trying, but the service and payment process may need...
Read morethe house of house special everything. we ordered house special lobster and added garlic noodles ($13 extra); fried fish; walnut shrimp; ong choi; french-style beef.
the lobster was $29/lb and minimum is 3.5lbs per lobster. they explain this to you right away when you order the lobsterand they show you the selected live lobster first before cooking it. it is popularly paired with garlic noodles for an extra charge. the noodles were heavy on the pepper and the whole dish is on the spicy side. the lobster was hard to enjoy because some pieces are really stuck to the shell. it was good to try once but probably won't order it again. the french-style beef was very underwhelming - the cut of the beef was tough and dry. the star of the show for us was the honey walnut shrimp. the size of the shrimp was pretty good. the crispiness and flavor were spot-on and most especially, the amount of shrimp wasn't disguised by a mountain of broccoli like some establishments do.
service was good. they explain anything that is not ordernary right away like they made sure to mention the price of lobster right away, that the noodles and white rice cost extra and when we tried to order the green beans, the mentioned right away that it has ground pork and cannot be omitted, which i...
