This has been a favorite takeout for a long time until recently.
Tofu 4/5 (need to eat them within a few days otherwise they'll go rancid) Customer service 1/5 (very salesy and pushy for cash payments) Price transparency 2/5 (receipts are not itemized and difficult to find prices on food items).
I ordered about $33 worth of food and I had asked the older woman at checkout for soy milk. She didn't fill the order and I didn't check my 2 bags of food before paying with credit card. The whole time at checkout she asked me 3 times if I wanted to order more. Quite salesy! I paid and went out to the car only to realize I forgot to buy soy milk. I came back to buy soy milk and the older woman asked for cash and not credit card. Obviously I didn't carry cash and she said I should be more considerate paying cash since her shop gets charged $0.50 per credit card transaction. I reminded her that she forgot to fill my order. It was quite annoying because I ordered $33 worth of food when other customers usually less than $10. She didn't want me to buy soy milk and proceeded to help other customers. I finally told her to charge an extra $0.50 to my soy milk and she reluctantly did. It was petty to nickel and dime a long time customer who makes...

I want to share my recent experience at Thanh Son Tofu (9688 Westminster Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92844) so others can avoid the same mistake.
On Tuesday this week , I purchased a whole jackfruit here for over $40—a fruit that normally costs around under $30 at most grocery stores. The jackfruit looked fine from the outside, but when I opened it the next morning, I was shocked: • The core and meat were old, bruised, and discolored • The taste was bland and sour, nothing like the sweet jackfruit flavor it should have • It even made me wonder if something was used to preserve its appearance
I politely called the shop to explain and asked if I could exchange it to another one that I could eat. I paid over $40 of my hard-earned money for something inedible, which is simply unfair. Unfortunately, the owner refused to help, told me to “go ahead and put a review online,” and showed no care or integrity about customer service.
This kind of attitude shows they are not concerned about long-term customers or the quality of what they sell. Please be careful with your money and avoid doing...
Read moreDon't go here for service or smile from the cashier/worker. Go here for soy milk (unsweetened, sweetened, and pandan) and other tofu related stuff. For what you pay for all the yummy stuff, don't expect anything more, like an English speaking clerk or fancy kowtow. If you must insist on a 5 star service, go elsewhere where you have to pay a lot more for mediocre soy products. I laughed so much when I came out because the service was incredibly bad from a non-English speaking cashier. Hahahaha, I am still laughing about it as I write this review. But I went back again immediately after I tasted the warm unsweetened soy milk by the kitchen door. I bought both Pandan and sweetened soy milk, too. They were worth all the horrendous service because they were so tasty and unbelievably cheap, the cheapest of anything out there. So if you don't like the service, go elsewhere. I plan to come back for...
