Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity to sieze the best Ramen in LA, in one meal. Would you eat here, or just let it slip? That was me. I only had one meal remaining in LA before my flight back home. I wanted it to be Ramen. So I began my research for the best Ramen in LA. I checked Google Maps, Yelp, Eater LA, Google results. I wasn't going to accept a _great_ Ramen. I would only settle for a STELLAR Ramen. Our extensive and intensive research landed us here at Shin-Sen-Gumi. I had the highest of expectations, and it did meet them. The Ramen was delicious, generously flavorful, with bunch of customizable toppings to suit your needs and taste. The pork slices and additional pork dumplings I ordered were both amazing. We also got 2 types of flavor balls/bombs from their menu, and both were a hit. Made the Ramen even tastier. They also have bells on each table to call the staff. First time I saw it in any restaurant. Makes it very convenient. The service was quick, efficient, no-frills. You can join the restaurant waitlist from yelp, so do that before you arrive.

Shinsengumi specializes in hakata-style ramen which uses tasty pork bone (tonkotsu) broth instead of the shoyu based broth. SSG uses Berkshire pork that has been cooked for 15 hours. The white noodles are also thinner and are more similar to soba in texture compared to the yellow noodles that are more common. SSG lets you specify the firmness of the noodles, how much oil you want, and how thick you want the broth to be. You can also choose which sides to add such as ginger or sesame. There are many additional sides such as their excellent semisoft boiled flavored egg which is in between soft boiled and hard boiled. I like their eggs the best among the ramen places ive tried. I also like their green chili butter which has a moderate amount of spiciness. Other than the ramen, i also love their deep fried soft shell crab with yuzu sauce. It's my favorite soft shell crab among local restaurants. One thing i dont like is the waiting line. No reservations. You just have to wait. In summary, this is one of our top 3 favorite ramen places in the LA area.

Ok, this is something! I have not been to Japan but I really felt like I was in one of the ramen stops in Japan. It feel so authentic because of their environment. Every single cooks and servers were communicating in Japanese, the place was very cozy, servers were absolutely amazing, helpful, and patient. They have so many different varieties of Ramen. I remember getting spicy wonton Ramen and boy it was DELICIOUS and so was beef gyoza. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because they have 1 vegetarian option. My husband is vegetarian, it was so sad how his Ramen was cooked. They aren't even trying a little to make a good veggie or vegan ramen. Veggie ramen was bland as hell, had chunks of cabbage and carrots (weird) and soy chunks as the only topping. Overall very bland and tasteless. I loved this place so much for me but because of their lack of enthusiasm for veggie/vegan ramen, unfortunately I can't go and many others can't.

First impression coming here was, "wow, the line in this restaurant is ridiculous! Their food must be amazing!" Well, it didn't disappoint to be honest! I really enjoyed their food. The customer service in shin-sen-Gumi are very special. They are so energetic and are always attentive! 👍 Anyways, their ramen was actually worth the hype! I like how you could customize the ramen from noodle hardness, to the oil level, what you want in your ramen. 🍜 You just can't not love the ramen here! I would recommend adding some kind of paste for added flavor. My favorite is the spicy miso (curry paste is not bad as well). Overall, if you have the patience to wait for a savory ramen bowls (like an hour wait, especially when you are coming here for dinner), then please give this restaurant a try! You will fall in love!

This place is awesome. My wife and I have been coming here as our comfort spot for years now. I have been coming here for 5 years and each time the food, atmosphere and service is absolutely incredible. My wife and I love spicy food and the Diablo ramen is perfect. It’s the best kind of spice (most places just use a ton of chili powder) but here the spice is delicious and hot. I recommend coming here with your friends and family on the weekends! The food tastes better and the service is better. They have an okay lunch special, but the food quality is lackluster at this time (We have a feeling that they reuse ingredients from the night before). Dinner time is when everything tastes much more fresh.

I hate to do this because it's oblivious lots of people love this location but my experience was sub-par at best. First something I did not know going into this was that this reastrunt only serves pork based broth in there ramen. They have no other broth options. I should have left than but decided to try other items they had in the menu. I had fried noodles, fried green beans, fried potato cakes, fried curry chiken, and a curry dish. The only thing that was reasonably good was the curry chicken, everything else left a lot to be desired. The portions were also relatively small in comparison to the price.
