I used to love this place, I’ve been going there at least once a week for the past few months to get school work done or meet friends for coffee, i always recommended to anybody who is looking for a new coffee place. This last visit left a really bad taste in my mouth and I won’t be going back again as well as telling everybody of my experience there. It’s the first time I’ve been able to go in during the day because of work and I was meeting a few friends to catch up and get work done. I was the first one there and tried to order an avocado toast but they told me they were all out of avocados and word for word ā€œdon’t have any avocado toastā€ which i understood. 10 minutes later my friends and another group of people got there and were able to order avocado toast, so i just assumed they got avocados or found some in the back because I didn’t want to think they were just lying to me for no reason. My sister who was also meeting us showed up and tried to order the avocado toast but they also told her the same thing they told me. It left us really confused on why everyone around us was able to get it except for us, the only thing that was different was that everybody who got an avocado toast was white and my sister and I, who are Mexican, didn’t get it. Which is weird because the name is literally cafe FRIDA. It sounds so silly because it is just avocado toast but it made the experience so uncomfortable and awkward. In the past when there were times that I’ve been told they ran out of things i understood because that does happen at any place of business but now I can’t trust that they are being honest or just being selective on who gets what. I’ve spent a lot of money here and the convenience of it being 5 minutes away from my house made it perfect but I rather drive 20 minutes further to a place that has Integrity even if it means I have to pay more or...

First the good.... Coffee and ice cream were good and the service was friendly and responsive. It did take a bit to get two latte drinks and we were the only orders at the time. By a bit, I would say 7-10 minutes which seems long for only two drinks. I can't imagine what it would be like if they were busy. But the drinks were good so no complaining there.

Now the not so good...

The place was extremely dirty. Couches were heavily stained and didn't look appealing to sit on. Floors were extremely dirty too. That's the best part of the not so good.

The bad...

The bathroom was disgusting. No paper towels to dry hands, the soap was empty and the sink looked like it hadn't been cleaned that day. There was trash all over the floor and the three bin was overflowing.

Now the very bad...

The toilet had stains in the bowl and on top of the seat. You know what type of stains I mean. Looked like a port a potty toilet at a concert that hadn't been cleaned in a week.

If we had gone in for coffee and ice cream and just left, we would have been good. But because we sat to wait for our coffee and used the restroom, it changed our entire opinion of wanting to go back.

It's a shame really, because the ice cream and coffee were good but cleanliness in a food establishment is as important as the food. I don't believe...

I’ve been to Scoop N’ Buns before but I didn’t realize that they had a cafe connected to it.

The decorations inside were gorgeous with lots of ambient lighting. Good amount of seatings and outlets here and there for people who want to get work done. I do wish that Scoop N’ Buns and Frida played the same music though. It was funny to be listening to One Direction and chill music at the same time, made it a little hard to study but nothing headphones can’t fix.

I got the Vietnamese Coffee with Ube foam today. Coffee was pretty strong but I don’t know if it was just me but I didn’t really taste much of the Ube flavor. Maybe the coffee’s bitterness overpowered it or I’m just used to a different ratio of Ube in my drinks. But overall, it was good!

The only thing is that it took a while for my drink to come out, around 15 minutes. Could be because they had loads of other drinks ahead of mine but I didn’t mind it too much due to the fact that I’ve had to wait for much longer at other places.

Overall, I think that this place could be a really cute hang out spot with your friends. If you’re planning on studying, I’d recommend bringing headphones in case the music overlaps or when it...

They are specific on who they give the avocado toast to (they want a white based community here) I was meeting my sister and her 2 friends here and my sister let me know before hand that she ordered an avocado toast but was told ā€œTHERE IS NO AVOCADOSā€ but to my sisters surprise, a group of white people came in(6) and all got something with avocados in their toast, and also my sisters 2 friends (who are also white) ordered avocado toast, and also were able to get avocado toast, which was extremely awkward since the workers weren’t aware that we were all meeting up. Well I go in myself around 11 and ask for an avocado toast (not a specific one, just an avocado toast) and right away the lady said ā€œnot at the moment, we are out of avocadosā€ She did not try and offer any other alternatives, and it’s strange that the owner is stating that the only people offered the alternative to ā€œavocado toastā€ were white people. Edit: added a screenshot of my purchase as I was here and no avocado toast just a coffee per price

Cuuuuuttteee. The vibe is so artsy. It’s like walking into your painter friend’s abode. The plant life made the atmosphere so calming. It’s connected to an ice cream spot too. 🤪 What a sugar rush. However, I was a bit underwhelmed with the soft pop tart and lavender with no lavender macha iced latte. But the strawberry šŸ“ macha with foam was delish. Just wasn’t my order. Maybe invest in a toaster oven, then that vegan pop-tart with guava filling would achieve its purpose of scoring 10/10. For the latte, I mean we skipped something? No? But after a slight panic because I forgot to add oak-milk, I realized they use lactose-free milk on all the drinks. So points were redeemed. It’s still a must-go especially, if you like Frida like I do, and plant-life. Overall, I could certainly spend more time with a great conversationalist & a better selected latte choice. Probably will go for the Ube next time. 😩 I knew I drew the wrong conclusion!!😬 Until next time.
