06/14/2024: I gave Pollo Regio another shot. I ordered the grilled chicken. This time the food wasn’t too bad. The seasoning in the beans and chicken was a little salty, but everything was cooked well and was fairly tasty. 02/05/2021: We decided to give Pollo Regio another try. We ordered a carne asada torta with no cheese, but there was cheese. The carne asada entree didn’t come with the requested flour tortillas, salsa verde, or cabbage and jalapeños “salsa”. Didn’t mind the cheese and forgetting of parts of the order, but it’s annoying. Luckily, I had tortillas already at home, so I didn’t mind so much. The carne asada, torta, rice, and beans were good. 11/15/2020: Ordered to go from Pollo Regio on Sunday, 11/15. We got flautas, carne asada, and a grilled chicken torta. There are zero complaints with the food pick up. The food was ready before the pick up time we wanted. When we started to unpack our food we noticed that an order of rice and an order of charro beans were missing. Not the worse thing to have happen, but annoying. After unpacking, we started to dig into our food. The grilled chicken torta looked good, but had cheese that we specifically didn’t want. Another annoying thing, but the torta was good, substantial, and flavorful. The chicken flautas were crunchy on the outside and the chicken filling inside was dry and flavorless. Dipping them in the salsa verde or the salsa roja didn’t really help the dryness. The carne asada was delicious. The meat was grilled well and smelled so good. The flavor was really tasty and the portion was big. The grilled onion that came along with the carne asada was great as well. The flour tortillas were ok and wished they were better. The only knock on the carne asada is how the pico de gallo, grilled jalapeño, and grilled onion were just thrown in the to go container and not put into separate containers. It just was sloppy. Now I will reviews the remaining items in the order. The salsas, verde and roja, were both okay and average. The sweet tea was just a fountain Lipton sweet tea, which was okay as well and not as good as fresh sweet tea. The rice was another item that was okay. The charro beans tasted above average and until I saw a piece of pork skin that made me stop eating them. The pork skin I pulled out of the beans was hairy/prickly. That’s just gross. I know that hair exists on pork, but the lack of removing this hair is really unappealing and on the verge of disgusting. You can clearly see the hair. It wasn’t just one hair. It was 4-5 long hairs on that piece of pork skin. My picture shows the hairs. Overall, I won’t entirely dismiss Pollo Regio and never go there again. I pass by this location often and the grill smoke smells so good. I’ve been eager to go and try this place out. I was just disappointed with what happened with my order. We will pass on the chicken flautas and charro beans. We also need to double check what we order before leaving the restaurant since food was missing and items ordered were slightly wrong. The highlights were the carne asada and torta. They are definitely items to get at Pollo Regio.

We ordered Pollo Regio from this location, which we have done many times before since it opened. We've been fans of Pollo Regio for a long time and have visited other locations. Unfortunately, this time my wife found a rock in her charro beans, see the picture. I notified their customer service, and to their credit they were prompt to respond. However, their only response was "we talked to the location and made sure it won't happen again" and then sent me $20 in reward points, which doesn't even get close to covering the cost of the meal we purchased. Not a good response for a terrible experience. Thank God my wife didn't break a tooth or swallow the rock. So - if you go to this location - make sure you check your food carefully. There might be something unpleasant inside.

Never been physically to this location. But just having ordered from them I will not even waste my time. My wife ordered some flautas and was greeted with a piece of metal that she almost choked on. So now we have to monitor her to see if we are going to have to take her to an emergency room in case she swallowed some metal. The cherry on top, I ordered the caldo and was met with the bottom of the pot slop that had no business having the name of caldo anywhere near it. This place is disgusting and needs an inspection. Not to mention we paid $30 for this experience!

I usually go to this specific location (in Garland off of Rowlett Road).

So I don’t really eat meat like that which is why I always get a burrito with just beans, rice, and avocado. Well when I went yesterday (5/27/21), I ordered the SAME THING I always order, paid for my food at the drive through window, and then the “manager” (who by the way has HORRIBLE customer service) told me they can’t make it that way. So I politely told him that every time I come here that’s how I order my burrito. He said “no you’ve never gotten it that way”. Those words specifically is what rubbed me the wrong way. If he would have said “well I’m sorry ma’am we can no longer make it that way” or something along those lines, it would have been fine. For him to tell me that I never got it made like that was, for starters, very condescending, and two, horrible customer service. Then I proceeded to tell him that I have proof on my credit card statements that shows that I come here on occasions and I order the exact same thing every time. He says “well show me so I can fire who ever made it for you that way”. I am not going to show you proof so you can fire somebody, especially because there have been different people who made it that way each time. The manager needs to be reevaluated or he needs to take some customer service classes because he was very rude and condescending and threaten to fire somebody instead of simply saying “ that’s our mistake and we will correct it to make sure everybody’s on the same page”. I’ve never written a bad review or engaged in a confrontation with people who work in the restaurant industry but this manager needed to be reported....
